This fragment was given to me by a traveller, and I was intrigued. The map depicts vast subterranean caverns beneath the Faerun City of Waterdeep, which form the cradle of civilisation for the area, and unbeknownst to the citizens who dwell in the sunlight, is responsible for the city being there. The original occupants, the Morain, were dwarves of some size, over six feet in height, who lived in accord with the songs and sound of the caves, forming structures and developing magic through the sympathetic use of sound. The darker aspect to their history and perhaps their downfall was the imprisonment of the Titan, bound by chains that legend says can only be broken with certain perfect chords. This realm is now inhabited by giants of various tribes, various duergar dwarf species and other denizans.
