The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.

Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

Maxime Plasse drew two maps for me to be used in a book series. He presented the rights cession contract in an easy to read and simple format, making the process that much smoother. I gave him a quick sketch and he was able to turn it into something worthy of being used as the first page. I was not sure how to depict a few of the locations on the map, Maxime showed me examples and told me what would look the best. I went with his suggestions, as they were indeed the best way to go. Having Maxime draw these maps was an experience I would not hesitate to go through again, if I ever have another map that needs to be drawn.
