So, just reread the topic and saw that Evil Necromancers tower were mentioned - and here I thought I had an original idea.. .well - I'm doing it anyway! ;)

And if any of my players should find their way in here - DON'T LOOK.. plot spoiler ahead :)

sketch of first floor, where the necromancer entertain his guest - not that there are many - but he likes the idea ;)

So he likes entertaining but he doesn't get many visitors... maybe he's actually the Lonely and Misunderstood Necromancer? :D

Don't mock him or he'll have to invite you to ..... play... MUHAHAHHAHHAA ;)

... and yes, hes a little mad

(Singing in a Nina Simone voice) I'm just a nec-ro-mancer whose intentions are good, oh lord, please don't let me misunderstood.

Oh man... that's so awful. :D

But wouldn't 'Sinnerman' be more appropriate for a necromancer? ;)

now you both lost me...

Don't mean to thread-jack you, tilt, but: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nina_simone One of the greatest artists of all time IMO.

@diamond, thats ok... now I understand - slightly ;)
@SG - yeah, you're right - that should be on the lower level ... or in an outhouse :)

There is no way an evil necromancer would go out side to do number twos. That's just asking to be ganked!

Mind you, a necro's tower would have limited facilities, as the undead don't need them. You might as well use buckets; when you live with undead, the smell won't be any worse.

*lol*.. good points :)

Who cares, just make a basement with an otyugh. Any failed zombie experiments can be conveniently dumped down a chute (just like your other crap) to the Otyugh (or some other filth-eating nasty, like a gelatinous cube... whatever it was that attacked Skywalker, etc)

tilt

hey.. skywalker won - so maybe I should put him in the basement ;)

I've added 3 more levels...

EDIT: looks like the stairs from level 2 to 3 has disappeared in the collage - but you can extrapolate from where it comes up on level 3 :)

4 levels plus basement? Cool. What style are you going to use for the interior?

tilt

thanks :) ... its going to be a battlemap, so semi-realistic :)

Really nice work so far, man. I think this already has my vote and it's not even finished yet. :D

actually inspired by the notion that the players should have a hard time following the necromancer when he runs from them. :)

Thanks Diamond :) ... that means a lot :)

the basics of level 3 are done ... this is where he lives and works (some of his work anyway ;) )

tilt
07-08-2010, 07:03 AM
added a few things, a bed and a closet for the bedroom and a pentagram for the ritual room

tilt
07-09-2010, 06:08 AM
added doors and flooring, texture to walls to level 1

tilt
07-12-2010, 08:48 AM
a little further on level 1 - added some beds and a table - threw in an extra door so the guards can access the hallway quickly. Added shadows to the outer wall.
A problem arises though - the heavy shadows on the inner wall to give them some height - now pushes some of the elements (in this case beds) into a shadow ares and gives the illusion of a level difference between the rooms.

Steel General

I think I would tone down the inner-shadows some, maybe it will help with the 'level illusion'

tilt
07-13-2010, 03:51 AM
yeah.. you're probably right - I've made them so dark/big to give the illusion of the height of the walls in comparison to the furniture - and I believe that it worked fine for that ... but one problem solved often sparks a new one ;)

thanks ravs .. the originals are 6000 x 6000 pixels :)
So, I've unfortunatly not gotten completely well yet, I hope to finish the maps - or at least get them more finished than now but I'm not sure ... I've been sleeping half of the day yesterday again :(
But for now, I've compiled a pdf of the work so far :)

so a little more work today before turning in - and I'm guessing this will be the final entry. The pictures are in half size and a little compressed to get the file down in size... :) I hope you enjoy it :)
