I'm in the south of France on hols. We went to Arles yesterday and it has a great museum on Roman antiquities. Some fantastic architectural models and maps which I'll be posting up as references. This is the architectural model of Arles in Roman times.
great.. love those models... a couple of years ago I visited the Naval museum in Copenhagen, there were some great models of Sea battles in the oceans around Denmark, with guns firing (cotton died gray for smoke) and all... very cool :)

Awesome. I love this kind of stuff. How large was the model? Looks pretty big.

Very interesting to see how the buildings were actually grouped. Thanks

Beautiful. I *ahem* get a chubby every time I see beautiful city models. in my Pre-Digital camera days I went to visit my wife in Korea (when she was just my girlfirend), and they had a beautiful map/model of the city of Seoul with buttons that when pushed would light up the various subway lines, and major points of interest around the city. I have some 'pictures' of it and would have to see about scanning them in.
yeah.. we have a little tiny museum like that in copenhagen too - I too remember the buttons that lit up a little light somewhere on the model :)
