Oh my word, that's superb!!!! How long did it take you? I love the historical stitching...is it for a book or something? A really lovely piece.

i love it! (but caesar didn't have elephants in his army).
11-23-2010, 04:33 PM
That looks awesome!

That's absolutely stunning! Was it made for anything in particular? My favorite part is the little Roman legions being led by a little Julius Caesar...but I wasn't aware that they invaded the British Isles on elephants; Carthaginian mercenaries perhaps?
Have some well deserved rep. +1

Carthaginian mercenaries perhaps?
nope. i don't even know if romans ever used elephants, but i'd say no.
but i'm sure caesar didn't (i read his de bello gallico again and again).
that was my only question, because it's the only detail historically incorrect. apart from that, i agree it's an amazing work!

Thanks! My next one will be a city in the USA :)
looks fantastic, my only critisism (and no, its not the elephants - they are nice even if they don't exists *lol*), is the even spacing of all the trees, I'd like to see some more variation there :) ... have some rep with my +7 war elephant of stomp repping :)

Actually, Claudius did invade Britain on the back of an elephant apparently...
Well, he showed up after the fighting on an elephant anyway.
Great map, by the way!

That really is magnificent! Quite refreshing too, personally, since the recent concentration of effort on New York in the Super Challenge! I'm curious at your choices of historal events though?
You may have these in there and I didn't spot them but... I would have had, the Great Fire and Black Death, maybe Boudicca to match against Ceasar (who gets more kudos for not actually conquering Britain worth mentioning, to poor old Claudius's detriment, who did). But that's just me!
