View Full Version : Life in Medieval England

I came across a great book: The Time Traveller's Guide to Medieval England (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Time-Travellers-Guide-Medieval-England/dp/1845950992/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291651208&sr=8-1) by Ian Mortimer. What makes this book stand out is that it is written in a 'travel guide' style. So rather than lots of dense boring prose, it's a bit like you're the player, the writer is the GM and describing what is going on around you. The first part of the book has some useful data for mapmaking, describing what cities looked like, the width of the roads and the dimensions of buildings, but the whole book is a great read.

Review here. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2008/oct/25/history1)

No worries. It's a cracking read! Remember that thread we had about toilets (which always gets necro'ed?)...you'll find out what medieval man wiped his bum with when you read this book! (Seriously).
