I did a search through this forum for the link below and was surprised that nobody has posted it. This chap Liam collects old books out of copyright and scans in all of the pics and has a site where you can download them for free.

Not only is that an excellent service but his web site is excellent with many many meta tags posted on all the pics so its very searchable. I have used it a few times. Its got some great genuine hand drawn old fonts and stuff like that.

I always think of this guy when I am in an old book store but so far I have never seen anything really old and useful that I could send him.

Agreed! Some lovely stuff there! Run the jpegs through Vectormagic (http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=1167)and then you're cooking with gas!
