View Full Version : First dungeon of mine - Problem with objects

Here is my first map of a dungeon i'll use for a first D&D scenario, that's almost what I wanted, but I'm still looking how to include some elements, like tables, beds, etc. on this map. I work with PS...

When I try to define such objects as brushes, it is just terrible, because it's pixelisated, a little transparent, and it loose all it's color and so it's interest (for example, a table became juste a black square despite of a quite good looking wooden brown table...)... How can I do to include some elements easilly?

I like what you have so far.
The problem with brushes is that they are basically BMP like. They don't retain color or shading.
Your best bet is to create a new layer and paste your dungeon dressings on that layer. then use the clone stamp to make multiples of that object, rotate and scale to fit where you want them.

But I haven't found so far how to do in PS what I was doing easily in Gimp, that is open an image as a new layer... You say that in just copiing it, I can paste it on a layer directly?

heres what i do
1) save dungeon object as a photoshop file with transparent background
2) in your map: File > Place > [object.psd]. The object should appear in its own layer as a vector image.
3) scale and position.
4) repeat as necessary.

incidently, the dunjinni forums have a lot of readymade object files if you dont feel like making them yourself.

Nice. I like the circle table in the bottom left.
The numbers are clashing a little with the textures they're on top of. I think it might work better if they were either to the side of the room or in a more conventional typeface.
