Any reason why I'm tagging a bunch of posts as Spam all of a sudden? Someone else mentioned noticing more as well a couple days ago. I'm just wondering if this is typical or if we changed something that let a bunch of Spam in?

For now I'll just keep reporting them as 'Spam' so whatever little elves we have can clean them up.

Thanks thats always the best. We get a lot of spam and its hacked down very quickly. You may be seeing a lot because you go online just after the spam has been posted. We have CL's in many time zones knocking it down around the clock.

Please hit that moderate button two to the right of the rep button and it gets temporarily taken off the boards, tagged as something for CLs to look at and decide what to do with.

I don't think any of the settings have changed, but spam comes in fits and bursts - and the more exposure the guild gets, the more spam will come in. Thanks a lot for all the spam hunting - have a touch of rep for your efforts!

No problem, I know I'm on late into the night during the cooler months of the year because I can get away with it. I will keep using the 'Report' button and tagging it with 'spam' as the reason whenever I see it. If we ever have a badge for Spam hunters it should be a little can of Spam, hehe.

Or the sight guides of a sniper rifle.

Or a Don Quixote style knight bravely tilting at a giant can of Spam. LOL

I've been acting on a ton of spam reports in the last week...but they keep coming...it's like Rourke's Drift!

Ooh, I like the sniper rifle reticle over the can of spam!

On a serious note, I'm glad this thread got posted; I reported one of em a few days ago and I wasn't quite sure that was the right thing to do. Now I know it was and will continue to do it in the future.

Nothing like a pack of rabid mappers on the hunt for Spam.

The spam hunters greatest weapon is stealth. You must become the wind. You must become the rain. You must become...the spam...

Omg. Considering the inordinate amount of time I spent playing Call of Duty on the XBox while I couldn't sit up straight, this just merged my two favorite pastimes in a very mind-jarring (and hilarious) way. Thanks for posting that, I'm glad you were bored :D

I was wondering if anyone was going to get the reference. I am also a bit of a COD addict. (Black Ops at the moment) :)

did anyone say tilt-ing ? ;)

thanks for helping with the spam jax - I think I've banned an average of 2 spammers a day since new years - and I believe the guild is rather good at removing those pesky guys. I pride myself to catch a lot of them within minutes of spamming - of course I can only be online 23 hours a day - then I have to recharge *lol* ... and I've been away to much lately, but tomorrow is my exam and then a little more spare time until summer :) YEAH!

Well, I know in the past two days I have personally killed FOUR Russian/Czech spam messages. thankfully all four were in the moderated section so the general forum never had to deal with them (all were in Cyrillic as it was anyways, so BAM-BAN-SPAM!)

GoGo Neonknight, killer of Spam!

By the way, Jaxilon, just so's you know .... I'd like to hurt you for putting REM in my head for several days straight now.

LOL, sorry Giddie but I love doing that to my wife as well. I'll sing a line from a song and she'll get it caught in her head for the rest of the day...hehe.

And in case some have forgotten: Spam (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdpsfBsN_Dg)

LMAO! My Weird Al knowledge is pretty much limited to Running with Scissors (which is fabulous). So I never knew that song even existed.

How great is that?! Weird Al does some great stuff IMO. Back in college my freshman roommate had a synthesizer so a bunch of us used to sit around and make up songs and my friend Rob Bob (big REM fan back in the 80s) wrote Canned from the place where you work (now you're poor) set to this REM song.

When I think of a song about SPAM, the first thing that comes to mind is Monty Python
