So today I've decided to buckle down and learn to use the Intuos 4 I got for Christmas. I really need to learn to use this thing and what a good chance I have with my lite challenge entry. So I'm putting a small WIP for my portraits as I create them. So far I've started with using the previous Fable II portrait of "Maggie the Maid" and using that as a base to start from. This where I've gotten so far just using the Ink tool in GIMP and erasing. Any hints or any help appreciated.

P.S. It's been so long that I did any drawing like this so please understand that it took me 1 hr to do this haha.

Wow. That looks great! Can't wait to see what you do with the thing when you ARE used to it!

Gratz no the tablet :D ... and don't be harsh on yourself... drawing anatomy is the hardest thing, and requires practise every day for years to do it in a couple of minutes. Also drawing on a tablet is completely different from drawing on paper paper.

So I say you're doing a VERY good job so far (I would't dare to post my first tries using a tablet on the forum :) ! When I try to draw characters, I usually start-up with a stick-figure to get the main pose right, and then go in for the real linework (but I'm no expert ;).

.. as for the drawing, I'm missing something... shouldn't that woman be holding some big glasses of beer? cheers :)

So this one is done and two more to go. The wifey is asking me to make my own logo so I can sign/watermark things with. That's my next project it seems. I think she wants me to develop a brand and start getting commissions soon. We shall see.

That gets a Wow! from me. Not that I'm an artist or anything, but she's very well endowed...was that a design choice or just to appeal to the market? :)

All serving wenches must be overly buxom - it's the norm. All princesses must be smallish (to look girlish) and warrior babes must be average size so that they can swing over-sized swords that normally couldn't even be lifted (except in comic book land where all ladies are huge). :)

Small buxom = girlish? What wretched, cruel logic is this?

:| <- neutral, frozen...moving not.....I sense danger Will Robinson. There is a little red light flashing in the back of my brain right now like something on the Enterprise. Tread carefully my friend for here be Dragons. :)

Looks great. I am always in awe (and more than a little envious) of people who can draw... :)

Started up with Mr. Boyle the lab assistant. I finished the dog for the most part I'm happy with it. It's based of the Mabari hound from Dragon Age. Just unsure where to go with the lab assistant himself.

the man speaks sooth! If I were a player and my serving wench wasn't buxom I'd fling my jar of ale at her, crying, 'Get out of my imagination!' :)

So the GF wanted to color the characters and I let her free rein. After the coloring I applied textures to finish it off. Looks much better when added mono-chromatically to the map. It's signed both of us seeing as it's a shared project now. haha

Somehow I really want to give you a hard time about this but I can't seriously think of anything :)

The lab assistant Mr. Boyle is now done. One more to go and also to finish the second level of that map.

Here's Dr. Otto Von Raithborne, I can see the improvements, I'm not satisfied with my shading and coloring yet. But it does make it look better in the monochromatic setting of the map I'm using them in. Enjoy.
