Remember last year (http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?8950-One-Page-Dungeon-Contest-2010&p=98456#post98456)? :D

Dates: Submission deadline is April 1, 0:00 GMT. Based on last year's experience, judges will have one month to read all the submissions and another two weeks to discuss the result. Winners will be announced May 16, 0:00 GMT.

Judges: I'm still looking judges! Interested? Let me know → kensanata@gmail.com!

Prizes & Sponsors: Do you have prizes to donate? Let me know → kensanata@gmail.com!

Submissions: Here's how to submit your entry.

Participants create a One Page Dungeon (http://campaignwiki.org/wiki/DungeonMaps/One_Page_Dungeon).
Submitting a dungeon to the contest releases it under the Creative Common Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/) license with credit to the contest participant.
The submission must have a name, an author, a map, a key, a link to the license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/) and no game stats.
A link to your blog, wandering monsters, random events, adventure background or introduction, and descriptions of tricks or traps are all optional.
One entry per participant. Participants may revise/replace their entries up until the end of contest, with the last revision counting as their official entry.
Submission must be mailed in PDF, Open Office, or Microsoft Word format to Alex Schröder → kensanata@gmail.com.
If you have a blog article talking about your submission, I'd love to link to it from the One Page Dungeon Contest (http://campaignwiki.org/wiki/DungeonMaps/One_Page_Dungeon_Contest) page.

Process: Here's how we'll determine the winners.

Every judge nominates their favorite entries and proposes a category for each.
We try to make sure that every judge has at least three of their nominations in the final list. The idea is to not only reflect popular opinion but to also capture some of the more eclectic entries out there. We'll make sure that every judge is well represented with three entries each.
Based on the categories proposed in the first step, we try to assign a category to each entry on the list.
The result is our release candidate 1. Judges gets to check whether their favorites are still on the list.
We fix omissions and rename categories until we're happy. This is our release candidate 2.
We revise everything until we're happy. We have our list of winners! :)
If we have prizes (we currently don't) each judge gets to nominate their favorite entry for a prize.
We publish our list of winners!
Harald puts together a PDF of all the entries and a PDF of all the winners. We'll make these PDFs available for download at no cost.

missed the contest last year - but perhaps one should give it a go this time around :)

02-28-2011, 04:33 AM
Yes indeed one should! :)

02-28-2011, 04:37 AM
*lol*.. thought about judging for a moment - but then I realised with my usual schedule its hard enough to make a map now and then, so evaluating a huge bunch of maps would probably be more work than I could handle... these things were so much easier when I was young and didn't have all those grown-up things to care about *lol*

02-28-2011, 05:16 AM
Yay, it's back! I might enter this year!

02-28-2011, 08:36 AM
I won an honorable mention last year and got like 4 things. How cool is that?! Everyone should enter. I know I will and I assume our other member-winners will as well.

02-28-2011, 10:56 AM
I'm chewing on ideas already. Hopefully, I can put something together.

02-28-2011, 12:31 PM
Oh, if I can squeeze in the time (I will squeeze in the time). I already know what I am going to do, now to just figure out the best way to present it. Last year I did the Lair of Lhessadrak - a pontiff clerical lich. Well I still got lich in me, but this time its a bardic lich, the Maestro of Cacophony with a huge pipe organ as the main piece - a dead audience, a few other instruments and sheet music scattered across the floor. Some side rooms all part of ruined castle. We'll see what other ideas I come up with - this should be interesting.

I won't make as many rooms this time around and more room for legend/key with encounter/trap/treasures found in each. I didn't win last year, because I didn't have enough text description in the key - so definitely put more in this time.

Good luck everyone!

This pretty cool might enter in as well time permitting. Trying to get a grasp on last years submissions to know where to go with it currently.

Moved to News.

Even though I am definitely participating as a contestant again this year. My new map tile service is sponsoring a 6 month subscription of Endless Terrain Battlemaps - the printed and shipped version for one of the possible prizes for the One Page Dungeon Contest 2011.

You can view the OPDC page linked in Kensanata's post at the top to see the available prize list - its already on there!

I made sure it was possible both to compete and sponsor a prize - I just asked if I am one of the winners, I don't want my own prize! :P

I'm going to try and work on a simple map, time might be tight, but I think I can bang out one map in one day.

03-09-2011, 04:54 PM
GP and DevinNight... goodness, talk about tough competition. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

For what it's worth, here is my entry (http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?13974-One-Page-Dungeon-WIP-The-Underground-River&p=147839#post147839). This is the first time I've participated. I love contests though, especially ones where you can win prizes! We should have these sorts of things all the time!

Two more weeks to go!

A map, an intrigue, monsters, treasure, enemies, allies – what does an adventure for your game night require? Whatever it is, if you wrote it up, you should send it in! The due date for the One Page Dungeon Contest 2011 (http://campaignwiki.org/wiki/DungeonMaps/One_Page_Dungeon_Contest_2011) is the first second of April 1, 2011, UTC. If you live in the United States, that means you may have to send in your entry many hours before the last day of March ends. What better way to make sure you don't miss the deadline than sending your entry as soon as possible? Don't worry, you can send in revisions up to the very end.

Submission must be mailed in PDF, Open Office, or Microsoft Word format to Alex Schröder → kensanata@gmail.com.

Check out the sweet loot awaiting the winners of this year's contest in the sponsor section of the One Page Dungeon Contest 2011 (http://campaignwiki.org/wiki/DungeonMaps/One_Page_Dungeon_Contest_2011) page.

Best of luck!

Five more days!

I have integrated countless One Page Dungeon Contest (http://campaignwiki.org/wiki/DungeonMaps/One_Page_Dungeon_Contest) submissions into my campaigns. It didn't matter whether they won or not. These One Page Dungeon Contest entries are a treasure trove of material. I absolutely love them. Everything you need, available at a glance.

There are close to fifty prizes (http://campaignwiki.org/wiki/DungeonMaps/One_Page_Dungeon_Contest_2011#prizes) available for the winners of the One Page Dungeon Contest 2011 (http://campaignwiki.org/wiki/DungeonMaps/One_Page_Dungeon_Contest_2011). How hard can it be? Take the events of your last session and write them up on a single page, digitize it and send it in. It's better to be safe than sorry – don't send it in a mere hours before the deadline. Send it in now and send any last minute corrections a mere hours before the deadline.

There is no easier way to loose than not participating. I hope you will participate! :)

Submission must be mailed in to Alex Schröder → kensanata@gmail.com.

Best of luck!

I really wanted to do this, time just snuck up on me and being sick as a dog flat in bed for 5 days didn't help one bit :( Guess I'll have to wait for next time. If somehow I feel the fire tonight maybe I'll cram something together, I just hate to do that because I want to do something awesome.

03-29-2011, 04:20 PM
I wanted to do it as well but I'm sidetracked on four other things at the moment so adding a 5th would have been ludicrous. The goodies are good and I want some more :) Let's hope for next year then.

04-01-2011, 08:47 AM
The submissions are all available for download (http://campaignwiki.org/wiki/DungeonMaps/One_Page_Dungeon_Contest_2011#submissions)! In the mean time judges will spend their evenings reading them all and taking notes. :)

04-20-2011, 07:08 PM
Is there a prediction for when the winners will be announced? I also noticed that some of the judges made their thoughts/comments/criticisms available for public perusal last time: I'd love it if they did something similar again.

Anyway, my money is totally on djekspek.

04-20-2011, 09:33 PM
Last year, as planned for this year, they won't release anything official until at least May 15th. This year there is 8 more maps than last year. All the judges have to review every entry and pick a favorite three, along with significant secondary list, which will take the longest amount of time. After this the judges select a tighter list among the favorite entries and determine winners. So there's quite a bit of review work to be had - I don't expect it to take any less time. Look to the middle of May before winners are announced.

04-20-2011, 09:47 PM
Thanks for the heads up, GP.

04-21-2011, 05:25 AM
I've seen three (private) Google documents from the other judges with their comments. My own stuff is all on paper, unfortunately...

05-15-2011, 02:36 PM
The judges have read all the submissions, have made all their notes, have nominated all their favorites, have reviewed all the candidates, and have determined the One Page Dungeon Contest 2011 Winners (http://campaignwiki.org/wiki/DungeonMaps/One_Page_Dungeon_Contest_2011#winners)! :D

05-15-2011, 03:03 PM
Those are great, congrats to the winners and thank yous to the judges. I'm glad the shadowpede and the slug in cow-bone armor got a win. :)

05-15-2011, 05:44 PM
Boo I didn't win anything. Aww well a portfolio piece is better then nothing.

05-15-2011, 06:47 PM
Great winning choices! I really like the diversity! Congrats to the winners and thanks to the judges!

05-25-2011, 01:31 PM
I was lucky enough to get a prize, and one of them was a voucher from Rite publising so I got myself a copy of Torstan's tribal encampment map, love that thing :D
