View Full Version : *** February/March Lite Challenge VOTING - Open to Art ***

03-15-2011, 11:23 PM
This map's challenge was to use a base map from an open source (i.e. Open Streetmap) and turn it into an artistic map of any kind.

As usual we have some fantastic entries! Please vote for ONE (1) map.

You can see the maps by clicking here:

Feb/March Lite Challenge Thumbs (http://www.cartographersguild.com/utilities/Thumbs/Html/Challengers_LiteFeb11.htm)

Remember to give rep to entries you vote for! The voting will end on five days, on March 20.

Anybody besides me just getting tiny white boxes for the thumbs?

Amazing entry, diamond. You got my vote. The color pallet in perfect.

Yeah the thumbs are screwed this month. I tried to make them but its not having any of it as its writing duff links. You will have to click on the white boxes until we can work out why that is.

Well, I think we have a reasonable idea which way the voting is going this month! I would like to give a lot of props to Lostatsea for a genius concept - brilliant (nearly voted for yours on the basis of the concept alone). Also it's a shame that JT ran out of inspiration for his map (I know the feeling well) as it looked like a really good start.

Ich zieh den Hut, Diamond! Great work and my vote in return. THX.

I like all the entries, though I think that Diamond's and Geamon's stand out. It wasn't that easy a decision for me, but in the end I chose Geamon because I really like the colours of the map. I mean, how did you do that? Great work!

I'm going with the crowd on this one. Voted for Diamond, though they were all great entries. The hive made me shudder a little...which is good!

I voted for the Diamond's Khanate but I did like the Troll Country by Troedel a lot also.

Great work by everyone,

I had to vote for diamond as his map was just brilliant. If I would have had another vote it would have gone to geamon for a very cool idea. All in all another great challenge (excluding mine) I just couldn't get anything working this time :)

Geamon - I could have sworn that idea was familiar (http://lh6.ggpht.com/_hVOW2U7K4-M/SYvJhi3c15I/AAAAAAAA5aA/BzoS42Zt3mU/s720/013_pics.jpg)! Just goes to show there are great minds out there that think alike!

Yeah idea was good execution failed since it was my first attempt at anything larger then a city/town map. I voted for Diamond, good job man!!!

I voted for Troedel because not only was it a cool idea, I freakin' love that little troll face. C'mon, how can you not want to adopt that? :D

The Khanate gets my vote too for what it's worth. Excellent job there Diamond. Although Troll Country had me swithering for a while.

Nice job everybody. In the end I went with Diamond. I think the barbed wire border sold me.

Yah, great entries all around, but Diamond's was just stunning.
