I'm from Portugal, and have been drawing maps on paper since I was 12. (I'm 32 now).
I'm a lover of conworlds and I was looking for a way to redraw my maps and ended up here. I can´t remember where I saw the reference to this forum, but I'm glad I followed the link :) Great stuff!
I'm not really gifted with drawing software. But that will hopefully change ;) with the help of some of the tutorials I've already seen here.

Mainly I "use" GIMP or Paint.NET or any other freeware. I have also downloaded inkscape, but never really tried it.
But I'm open to suggestions.

I think with GIMP & Inkscape you have enough to make amazing maps. I'd concentrate less now on finding apps and more on familiarizing yourself on those two. And also, if you have a scanner, don't forget the power of hand-drawn maps--especially if enhanced in GIMP, or the like.
