View Full Version : Textures for egyptian buildings
I'm looking for decent textures to use on egyptian buildings - can't seem to find any with the right sandy colour. I'm also not looking for gritty texture would rather it smooth so they don't look like they are litterally made out of sand :P
Got any suggestions on whats best to use?

First, know that Egyptian Buildings would be flat roofed, often brightly painted, with only the most basic of building having a thatched roof (Straw was much to important a commodity for use in Brick making to be wasted on something like a roof). A little Google-Fu and the following link will give you some insight into how the Egyptians built their buildings:

Go go Genetica

And a couple more
I cranked these out pretty quick using Genetica Basic.
If you have anything more specific in mind, or modifications you would like to see, just let me know and I will see what I can do!

I'll take a look through my textures folder on my archive drive.. I used to have a rather large collection for VRML world building, I had one world set up with an Egyptian pyramid and tomb. But first.. Dinner!

Please forgive the thread necromancy, but I'm wondering how to attribute one of the textures shown above.
I've just started collecting miniatures for WarGods of Aegyptus to play some games with my sons after they read the Kane books by Rick Riordan. Looking for tabletop scenery/terrain, I've decided to do a bit of my own quick and dirty fabrication. (One son requires tangible 3d structures) To that end, searching the G image results, I found this thread.
So, after a bit of work, and scale issues in Google docs, I have this, but want to make sure I have my creator more clearly identified than my initial citation of "Cartographer's Guild". Thanks for the request to begin, and thanks to The Hero for the response.
(...and curses on you all for the crack into which I fell and browsed and drooled away more than an hour this morning. :o )
