Hello!

I'am currently working on a map consisting of four islands. This map is part of a bigger map (yet to be made).
The Attachements doesn't work for some reason, so I have provided the full size in the link below.

This is the eastern island with some icons and names - I am still experimenting with the looks.

Please drop a comment - all kinds are appretiated! :)

Really nice map! I like the city icons and the font (what's the name of it?). The forest though look a litle bit much as a pattern. Don't know really why but I guess that the borders are a bit to sharp. You could try to make it a bit less distinct.

I really love the unity of the colours you've chosen and the parchment texture for Paratorna. Really nice work and repped. I think the trees may look like a pattern because they do not overlap, but I think that's OK. I really like the city and town icons. The whole map hangs together really well.

Very nice, great colors. Looks like something you might find in the front of a book.

I really like it. Especially that island to the left which is kind of shaped like an A.
I guess it stands for "awesome". Well done! :D

I'm honestly in awe of this. I love how you've created regions using natural boundaries. I'm also a fan of the font used. Is it hand-drawn?

Like the others before already said. Nice colors and nice symbols.
The Font is also nice, but in front of the forrest and mountains it's hard to read. But I don't know if some sort of outline would ruine the look of the map

Wow, thanks for all the nice feedback! I must say it's really encouraging!

The font is called "Agent C" and it's a free font.
I found it on http://www.dafont.com

Thanks again! :)

Very nice maps. :)

I think I would be tempted to get rid of your ocean patterning from the rivers but that is a small thing really. Look forward to seeing more of your work.

Nicely done...

I do see one river violation. Paratorna has a lake with two outflowing rivers. Multiple outflows are only possible if artificially maintained, the lake is part of a delta, or as a temporary aberration (which will be erased in a short time even by human standards; there would not be time for towns to grow up along both).

All I can say: awesome.
I'm wondering about the "big world map" you talked about.

Very nice! Good job.

Once again, thanks for all the nice replies!

Ramah: I think I'll try to work away the ocean patterning from the rivers in the next version. Thanks for noticing that! :)
rdanhenry: Yeah, I agree... hmm. I thought it would be possible with that size of a lake, but then again - why would that make any difference?

This is an older version with more "natural" mountains and forest

You're quite right rdanhenry. This issue has been debated in other forums and since this is a fantasy world invented by myself, I 've simply decided that it's OK with two outflowing rivers. The world of which Trakorien is a part initially was conceived in the eighties and in the first versions the seas and lakes weren't always flat but had wide bulges, even mountains, probably due to some kind of magnetism below them. I specifically remember a magicians academy sticking up through a water mountain, rendering it inaccessible to non-flying beings. There were also very dangerous water valleys where ships could get trapped. in that world, double or triple outflows were natural and I've simply kept it.

That looks lovely. :) The colour palette is just to my tastes. The only thing I don't like about it is the rivers, which look too wide to me. Still, that's a small thing.

What's with the inset btw? Fog of war covering it? :)

Absolutely beautiful, and I love the colour palette too. I'm saving this map to my inspiration folder for the colour palette.

cheers

The map is really looking better and better. The palette is gorgeous and I really like the feeling of the city icons. The only thing I would suggest is maybe some texture to the glacier on Marjura. At the moment it looks a bit flat. Keep up the good work :-)

Really nice. My one critique - issue I noticed - is that the shadow of the pack-ice (that is ice right?) makes it look as if it is floating in the air slightly. Really like your overall style.

Hey again!

Told earlier that I was working on a bigger map. Trakorien is a part of the continent Argond. (Trakorien is the four islands in the west).
The maps are clean with no icons, names or no borders. Just fancy geography :)

VERY nice Obbehobbe! Is everything hand drawn by you? I see the mountains at least were shaded and colored, so I would guess yes... I am a "bit" turned off by the yellowish swamp color, but even still it's not that big a deal to me. Also, do you plan to add a bit of color to the forests(I think that would be nice.. just a small bit of contrast)? What about the deserts? Do you have any plans to add some type of texture to represent dunes?

My one critique/suggestion would be to go back to the hills and add a bit of shading the them also so as to merge with the mountains better(though technically, I guess there might be some suggestions planted in the previous paragraph too).

Looking forward to seeing more!

:| Yikes, I knew there was something missing (the deserts). And yeah, I think I agree that the swamp looks to yellowish. Also a faded green color on the forest would be a good idea. Thanks!

This was a while ago.The maps are completed and have been printed.

This is the big continent called Argond. Original is in A1

And this is the detailed map of Trakorien. The original is in A1 format.

And this is the company "Fria Ligan" in Sweden, making the maps ready for delivery. :)
