So the other day someone showed me a program called 'Paint Tool SAI'.
It seems to be a nice program but I have still barely checked it out att all.

Does anyone here use it? What are your thoughts?
Are there any tutorials?

Cheers

I wonder if this is gimp based.

I think he means http://www.systemax.jp/en/sai/ and this is the first I've heard of it.

The reason I didn't give a link is because the link I found is in swedish.

Someone had posted something that they had done a few months back with this program. I can't recall who it was or how far back it was but it was this year. I had looked into it but didn't download it.

I use SAI a lot now after trying the demo out. It's a really light sketching program designed for tablets and has replaced Sketchbook/Open Canvas for me. I think the linework you can produce with it is superior to that of any other program I've tried and I also find it blends colours really well. You can also create vector layers too and it supports the .PSD format.

Have you posted anything on this site that you've done in SAI? I'd like to see it.
Also; Do you have any tutorials concerning SAI?
Thanks.

I did this in SAI (the second image in the thread, not the first): http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?14333-Daimaru-Islands

There's this set of tutorials which wikipedia also links to I believe:

I've just read the tutorials. I don't think I've seen a program (short of something like painter) which gives so much brush control. I think I might try it out but at $65.00 it's not cheap, cheap but still pretty affordable (compared to painter). Thanks Larb!

You can download the demo from the site if you just wanna try it out. It's fully functional but it deletes itself after 30 days. =P
