View Full Version : Introduction

Hello, everyone. My name is John. I'm a 23 year old from Pennsylvania, USA. I'm an avid RPG player, fantasy novel reader, writer, and am involved in geofiction. I have a Bachelor of Arts in History. So, maps have always been involved in many of my hobbies as well as my education. I'm currently writing a book, not that I have any delusions about my chances of becoming a successful author. It's just a way to pass the time at my boring, easy job :D

My big weakness in world-building, though, has always been my map-making skills. I'm an avid student of linguistics, culture, and geography, so my art skills are the only real missing piece to making my worlds come alive. I'm hoping that some time spend here will give me ideas and inspiration, as well as criticism when the time finally comes to present something. I'm glad to get involved in this community, and only sad it took me so long to find it.

haha! I question your choice of writing location but that aside, welcome to the Guild. I'm an artist lacking the other useful mapping skills, so maybe I'll see you around.

welcome to the guild :) ... pick your weapon of choice and go through our tutorials ... then when you're ready - post your maps-in-spe in a WIP thread for help and critique :)

Welcome, John. Sounds like you have a head full of maps and plenty of incentive -- with those in hand, you should be able to develop a style and proficiency that'll satisfy you. From what you've seen here have you got an idea what you want to shoot for?

Do you geofict on your own, or as part of a group of some kind?
