View Full Version : ***July 2011 Challenge Voting - All about the Big Boys ***

08-04-2011, 12:37 PM
Well, hello there big boy!

This months challenge asked the entrants to take this silhouette (http://www.cartographersguild.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=36938&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1308522097) and incorporate it into a map. The same silhouette was used for the lite challenge last month. Six brave participants stepped up to the plate. Sadly I can't get the thumb nailer to work so you will need to click on the list below to see the maps or look at the thumbnails (http://www.cartographersguild.com/challenge_thumbs.php?type=regular) here.

annonymousfromyou - water from mars (http://www.cartographersguild.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=36968&d=1310200281)
LonewandererD - mas
(http://www.cartographersguild.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37365&d=1311770605)vman3force - Albeir Hessad (http://www.cartographersguild.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37242&d=1311191069)
Sapiento - East Hesperia (http://www.cartographersguild.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37280&d=1311341981)
Yandor - Shores of Sarric (http://www.cartographersguild.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37313&d=1311459928)
Diamond - Empires of Mars (http://www.cartographersguild.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37464&d=1312177536)

Some really stunning entries this month. Please don't forget to rep generously!

While we know who the winner is probably going to be, *cough diamond *cough, I'm voting for Yandor because I've always been a sucker for his symbols, still use some of his tuts for my maps.

I had to vote for Sap, since that's the exact idea I almost went with. :D

I voted for Vman because I really like the style he put it in.

I really had to vote for the lil' martian ;-)

I voted for Diamond, but if I had another I'd vote for Sapiento as well. Both did a great job :)

This was a tough one. I really wanted to vote for both Diamond and Sapiento's entries, both of which are superb. I chose Sapiento's in the end only won out in my mind by a fraction. Good job both of you, as well as to everyone else who entered.

I went with Sap.. the clockwork border was just really inspired and the rest of the map followed suit..

I went with Vman, I like new styles and he's always out there with new things.

Thanks for the votes guys.

I voted for LonewandererD; would have liked to see him finish off the isometric islands, but the battle grid style was quite stylish. Second vote would have gone to Diamond, though I have trouble believing those 5000 mile long canals ;)

My vote did go to LonewandererD though if I would have had two votes I surely would have voted for Diamond as well.

Overall great entries and a nice challenge :)

All of you did a great job!

Tres cool! I thought sure Mas was gonna beat out Mars...

I'll get you next time Diamond! Next time! Ha! Mars had me beat from the beginning, bravo Diamond! I should have spent those last few days before the threads were locked polishing up my entry.
