View Full Version : February 2012 Entry: Ticket to Horror

I'm going to do a reworking of a game I like very much: Ticket to Ride. It's a fun, simple to learn, but fiendishly addictive and tense game. It's basically a race against the other players to travel on various railways. I'm going to take the basic premise (based on app. 1900s USA and Europe) and adapt it to a horror theme ...

Also it's a useful challenge, since I've been promising a friend I'd do a reworking of this game for, oh, I dunno ... about 2 or 3 years? :)

This sounds like a great idea. Looking forward to the first pics.

Pity you didn't do this last year! Days of Wonder were offering a $10,000 prize for a new ticket to ride board design in a competition!

Well ... umm ... now I'm sad! :(

And you thought I wasn't going to get this done! I know you did! :D But I have 4 days left! :P

Honestly I should retitle the thread to: Ticket to Hell or something ... I decided Dante's Inferno offered a prettier place to map for a board game than random horror trivia :D

Feel the same....

I like the style!

I would love to keep the whole boardgame in black-and-white, but alas ... Ticket to Ride needs colours, so colours it will have :)

There we go, I think I'm leaving the borders as they are, the city icon looks big and visible, and the tracks are my kind of vectory. I'm going to stick with Trajan for the labels, it just strikes me as appropriate to Dante's time frame. Regal and imposing and all.

The layout is still temporary, since I'll be shifting stuff "north" as I lay the game "tracks", so I'll only do the final background work once I have the "locations" placed. Let's just hope it will be playable in the end! :D

THis looks so cool! Nice and clean, just how you like it. :)

Can't decide ... should I just use some of Dore's work for the background, or actually draw a silly map. Hmm ... on the one hand, I have no time ...

(yeah, I can be so boring with "nice and clean" :) )

Finished*! Woot! I love timezones! :D

Now to bed.

*the board. I admit - the tickets still need some work. But I'll do those soon enough. In time for the playtest anyway :D.
