This is as far as the Etrakien Empire would stretch when it was at its height of its power. In the mountain passes between the Grey peaks and Karpanien the Empire finally clashed with the growing power in the east, Arnoria. In the following war that lasted for one hundred years and brought the people in the area nothing but blood, sweat, death and tears, both Empires would crumble and nearly seize to exist. today, two hundred years later, the area has divided into four countries.

The map is completely made in Photoshoop CS5. I hope you like it.

A lovely map, very hand made feel to it. I only can't help but feel the rivers are a tad too bright, considering the rest of the textures.

Thanks guys for the comments, and Lukc you know how hard it is to get the right ink nowadays, i will definitely punish my deliverer for the river colour (yeah I agree it might be a tad too bright, but for some reason it always looks good in Photoshop while you work) :)

I think that is not the City that is "lost". The people that lives there that are "lost". Maybe they they cult some Chutulu!

The City of the lost (also known as the City of lost souls) is a city built on top of the ruins of an ancient city. It is situated in the midle of a marshy river delta that seems to be covered in fog all year around. In the beginning outcasts (or people that just wanted to be left alone) from the surrounding countries started to move here on secrete paths in the marshland. The whole delta is like a gigantic maze, so noone travels south to the ocean from the north. The inhabitants of the city have rebuildt the port and parts of the city around it, but still big parts of the old city is uninhabited. So people that don't know their way here call it the city of the lost, or the lost city, or if they don't like the lower class people inhabiting the city - The City of lost souls.

Of course som say that the people living there are lost for real, that their souls are trapped in the old city, that if you stay there for too long you can never leave. Some even claim that you can cross over to the borderlands there, a place somwhere between dreaming and the physical world. Some even say that the city isn't part of the Etrakien world at all, that it is the last part of a lost world, and thereby the citys name. But who belives in rumours........

I think a lot of people have some kind of place in their story that resembles this one. After all we all probably read and inspires by the same books and films :)

Thanks both Motara and arsheesh for your comments. And arsheesh the spiderweb corners are from a brush I found on the Internet, unfortunately I don't remember exactly where. It was free to use for noncommercial use though.

Hello Brandon and thanks for your comment. I made my mountains by hand. I have a Wacom tablet that I use when I draw my maps. It makes the whole process much simpler, and in some cases as with the mountains, it is absolutely necessary (in my opinion, or at least for me).

Very good map, reminds of Italy. The sea makes everything else pop very nicely.

Thanks. The real world is always an inspiration for my maps. So some resemblance might occur but not always intentional.

Beautiful map. :) In my opinion bright rivers make it very unique, I like their color. ;)
