View Full Version : February 2012 Entry: Workarikhash

Workikhash is a fantasy version of shogi (japanese chess). Roughly translated from our orcish language Workarikhash means Warteacher... Rules are the same as shogi the rest is different ^^

The symbols on the gamestones are based upon our orcish languages (Djschhabuk Maah).

The stone design was done quick with Autocad. It resembels a claw.
Everything will be done physically. I'm going to laser these stones out of black plexiglas and do the fine work with a dremel ( is a multifunction rotary tool also called dremel in english? )... have to buy a mask for that first -_- forgot it today at the hardware store

The "gameboard" will be made out of white rough velour leather

Wow! What an undertaking. I love Orks, so this will be fun to watch.

I agree with dangerdog15. Quite an undertaking can't wait to see the end results. Laser etching ?? HMMM Can you buy one at Walmart ?? :P

What a really cool concept! We call them Dremel's here too (name of the brand). I have one but I've never used it!!!

We've got a laser cutter at our University of applied sciences (studying architecture). usually we're using it for creating models... but we can use it for other things too if we want ^^

Cool, It's nice to have high tech resources.

this is too cool. i'll be watching for progress :D

It's hard to compete against someone with a laser cutter... ;)

Nice work, though!

Currently I'm on dremeling out the symbols (after drawing them with acrylic paint on the stone) and shaping the gamestones... and sry for the bad definition but only got an old handy cam ^^

I like the black and white. If you could get a much brighter ("blood") red, the black and red might be better.

02-25-2012, 01:18 PM
I like the Black and White one, it is clean and very neat looking. I agree with rdanhenry too thou, the black and red could look good too if it were a little more vibrant. It could look better I am not sure I would need to see it done to say. Very nice idea and work too.

02-25-2012, 09:44 PM
I'm with that too. B/W looks the best.

02-26-2012, 03:46 AM
B/W is good ... you avoid problems with color-blind people :)

Nearly done, trying to polish it some more... hopefully I can do it in the last few hours ^^

It's done. Here are the pics on the final version.
New take named Workarikhash on shogi, the japanese chess.

The gameboard made out of white velour leather (both sides rough).
The gamestones made out of black plexiglas lasered and dremeled into shapes. (took hours and hours and hours of work to get them shaped. have to think of a faster way of doing that)
(Partly) Gamerules on parchment with black ink.
Small Carryingbag out of jute.
Rules are the same as the japanese shogi.

An orcish game for learning war tactics especially for the fight against the Forsaken like Undead Flesh and the Black Ice who are able to integrate fallen settler and warriors into their own forces.
It was designed by the uruk Teroc, Touk-Lor of Sah'tubaah, a protectorate in the western parts of the Northern Seal of Mythodea.

Forgot to tell you what the inscribing on the gameboard means. The ones on the long side:
1. Head out into the realms our creation and crush all unworthy.
2. Head out into the realms our creation and watch the destruction of your descendants.

The ones on the short sides:
1. Sharpen your senses.
2. Be aware of your merit.
