View Full Version : February/March Entry - Aeronautical Chart

Instead of a map of the land, here is a map of the sky above the land, framed as a navigational chart for airships. I still need to add the routes between cities and I am not completely happy with the typography (I think it came out a little bit too steampunk/modern compared to the flags marking locations), but I hope that the idea of a map of the sky comes across.Comments are always welcome.

Landforms made in Fractal Terrain and then exported into Photoshop along with the slope shading. The shield comes from a font containing various heraldic symbols and the compass was taken from wikimedia. Both are cc licensed and free for non-commercial use.

I really like this idea. are the flags landing zones?

Thats the idea, it should be clearer on this version with the air routes marked. I also changed the compass a little bit so that it looks like the map was made by taking a generic map of the location and stamping over it in red ink, like the military might do to make a top secret navigational chart.
