Hi,

I wanted to ask what kind of Music do you listen to, when you map.
Its always interesting to see what people may comeup with.

My favorites now are:

Bohren & Der Club of Gore, Their Albums Black Earth and Dolores

The slow paced strong sound enviroments are very inspiring when it comes to paint landforms and place elements. Its kind of a serious Musik which enables me to concentrate on the core elements of my Mapping; Style, Form, Reason

Well, if we're on music, I'm currently loving:

Colour Haze (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7QNffGb86I) - long, rumbling bass lines, screeching psychadelia and lots of noise
Samsara Blues Experiment (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjYjvAIZYG0) - more hippyish, but similar
Horn of the Rhino (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kPfefpAcXI&feature=related) - slower, doomier and darker

And, of course, better known thingies like: Deep Purple, Orange Goblin, Motorjesus, Volbeat, Blind Guardian, Motörhead, Hawkwind, Electric Wizard, Uriah Heep, Demons & Wizards, Ayreon, Star One, Black Sabbath, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Mastodon, Puscifer, Tool, Stone Temple Pilots etc.

For me it really depends on what I am doing, and the mood.. When I am doing a lot of delicate work I often put on things like Vivaldi or Phillip Glass, while at other times I can keep blasting power metal out of the speakers :p

Right now, nothing in particular. But when I still ran a D&D campaign, I often listened to game scores while drawing dungeons or encounter maps. Games like Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate (II) and, strangely, Monkey Island really worked for me. Other than that, some decent progmetal and simply weird music, like Tool, Opeth , Therion, Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
