Here is a try to do the map that I will give to the pcs to find the Tomb of Crevan (my last map).

It is still a try and error aproach.

The region depicted is +- this one from my world map and is an area +- 250 x 200 km.

This is turning bad. I am not liking the results. Could not find a way to put the settlements. Symbols or geometric forms looked bad. Maybe I will try a diferent approach.

Here is the new version.

Why change style? I'd continue with Jon Roberts style. The cutout from your large map looks great. Changing the level of details and the forest a bit will make the map great.

Sorry for the confusion. English is not my first language so I may not make myself clear sometimes. The current map is the first one (the parchment one). The cutout using Jon Roberts is just a cutout from my world map (without effects or anything) to show you guys what I plan to show on the parchement but with more detail and a different approach.

Yes, but I think you should stick with the style from your world map and not use the parchement.

You tihnk so? My idea was to simulate the map the the characters have found, so I tough that the Parchment Style would be better at it. But I am really having problmes with its limitation.

Ok here is version 1.0 as I want it. I think that I found my way with the mountains, hills and text layout. Now I did a better effect for the text. The white glow is perfect for readibility but do not goes well with the intention of the map. I am still struggling with the rivers, vegetation and terrian in general. In the version that I will give to my players it will probalby not have the scale and the distances are distorced in relation to the "real thing" to give them a little more dificult =).

OK, I see. As a player handout the parchment style works better. And the latest wip is muh better looking, I like the way the mountains turned out.

The last update seems pretty good to me too. However you should take care about the mountains overlaping, like what happens whit the moutains near the 'R' of "Repouso de Trevan".

You are talking about this one? I if so I thought it looked nice, as a smaller mountain before a big one. you think that it look silly?

No, I mean the balck part of the mountain behind that one "invading" the white area of the one to the right. Its hard to explain :(. The one you pointed is ok, and I also think its good.

Version 1.2. Now with roads, some changes on colours and effects and indications on main locations. Now I must think in how to complete the hole empty part...

Version 1.3. Finished? I cant thinnk in nothing more to put here and as I though the empty space is a nice feature as it shows that the author of the map did not knowed all the terrain. What you guys think?

To me it looks ok, though if you're going for the frayed edges look I'd add a bit more white border around the edges of the map and some drop shadow. So it looks like it's laid up on a light table.

Put it more decayed? More pieces missing? I may also put some holles on the middle on the map and I will see if I can put the shadow effect that you suggested. Thank you.

Nope, I wouldn't decay it more. Just increase the canvas size, so there's a white border around it. Then add a slight drop shadow. What programme are you using?

Everything ProFantasy. I am testing with Drop Shadow and Bevel Lighted Effects.

Something like this? Put the shadow on all the sides or only on the ones that i put? It is a Bevel effect.

Yup, that's what I had in mind! Now, if you could just extend the white edges a bit more, I think it would let the image breathe more ...

Something like this, roughly:

Sorry for the dumb question but you know how can I extend the white border on CC3 so the Bevel works on the hole sides and not just where i broke the background?

Never done it...but I think you can extend the border by simply altering whatever is on your "map border sheet". If you want it to bevel on all 4 sides (rather than on just the north and west as it is now) you might want to mess with the "Bevel - Lighted" effect (its a real pain to work with...I need to consult with the help button quite a bit...but it produces good results.)

BTW...this looks really really good...your players are lucky

Ah, I'm sorry. With CC3, I'm a newb.
