Guys I was wondering if you would please walk me through the process of creating coastal line and rivers like in these maps below:

I would really appreciate it. I usually use Photoshop. Pretty please! :)

There are a number of tutorials posted in the forum (http://www.cartographersguild.com/tutorials-how/).

Take a look through thos to find one at your skill level and style you want.

I looked at some of them but I'm still stumbling with coast line outline and river combo. I did some trials with PS but it comes out a bit rough. The best stroke edge for a river that matches the coast outline was sponge brush but the color doesn't match. I also tried erase but they still come out pretty rough around the edges. Here is what I'm talking about:

If you could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

I don't have time this morning to really look at it, but you might want to look for Jezelf's tutorials. If I recall correctly, he had an approach that makes a nice, detailed coastline and rivers to match.

Thank you that is exactly what I was looking for!!! I checked some tutorials by Ascension, RobA, overlordchuck. They all were fantastic but there were some things that I couldn't find for the style of map I wanted to try.

Thanks again
