Well here comes again, another reincarnation of my wretched realms but with a slightly more lifeform friendly enviroment. I also did choosed a part of the 3rd map of the samples to start with.
After my long time of recovery I hope I can rejoin the Guild now. As most of you know, I rarely finish a Challenge, but well maybe we will be surprised now :P

Coastlines and Colorsheme setup done. The last was inspired by the recent Feature map of Oakfall by Obliro. I have seldom seen such a great colorsheme of the Land relating to the ocean and wanted to try that.

It was interesting to have the ASKI code landscape under the layers to paint the landscapes on top of it, but it was sometimes a bit hard to see what landscape the code represent due the rotation of the initial source map.
Oh and on this map I firsttime draw all mountains in directly, without brushes.

Wow. You don't need to do any more to it. This is already looking fantastic.

EDIT: One suggestion: I'm not that keen on the way the map overlaps the border, and the border becomes nearly invisible. If you have time, maybe you could clear that up? Or just disagree. It's a matter of taste, really, isn't it? Oh and welcome back, by the way.

The border is still in progress but the cartuche and other Elements will be the Main focus

Hey SK, long time no see! Welcome back!

I very much like the mountains. The map is a bit dark all in all. Will be interesting to see how the map looks like with all the material you want to plant on top of it (if all that white scribbling is any indication) ... normally i don't much care for such things.

Ay Eilathen, you think its too dark? Well its a test for a new map style anyway, and I was kind of feed up with my usual approach, so lets see where this will lead.

It's looking excellent so far. Testing the boundaries for colour schemes is a good idea. You never know, you might just come up with the next big style!

I think I liked it better dark; the over-saturated colors in the water are fighting now (at least on my screen)... or maybe it's just that you cropped out the border and land under it. The style in general looks good, S. Rough dark ink and color wash. ;) It works for you. The only thing that gets lost a bit is the higher peaks where you've washed over the ridges... difficult to see... you might erase/mask off the ink wash a bit in those places.

Good to see you around and mapping.

nice stuff, especially considering the time it took. at least i don't need to bother with finishing mine now :) looks like a weathered, well-used map

I think i will stick to something inbetween the two colors and redraw the peaks a bit

Yeah I think I preferred the darker version too. I still think this is looking great, and I suppose time is nearly up for the challenge, but after looking at this for a while I noticed one thing which started to bother me: the trees have no shadows. From a distance that doesn't matter, but up close it stands out a bit. I absolutely love those mountains, though.

I got to throw in my vote for the dark version too - much more atmospheric and cool looking.

And more importantly - WELCOME BACK! :D

Interesting choice for your color palette. I wouldn't have thought about putting those colors together but it works. Also, I really dig the little trees, and the mountains look great as well. It's great to see you back.

Cheers,

Beautiful! Applause. =) What is your technique for the heraldry... painting/coloring?
One thing maybe... you might tone down the compass to match the Cardona red.

Gorgeous! Good work :)

Thanks for all the Praise. I am glad to have fellow Guildmembers support me with their Feedback. Its helping me very much to improove my skills.
Here is the Final Mapversion (If I didnt oversee some gravel errors) [toned down the Reds, all should be the same now]

Special Thanks to Chashio and -Max- for their consecutive support.

Wow, very nice! Still not a fan of the very dark blue-redish sea, but otherwise, very cool. I like the heradlry style...comes of very authentic.
Have some Rep.!
