View Full Version : *** May/June Lite Challenge: Ahoy, Maties! ***

05-18-2013, 04:34 AM
After last month's rather specific lair challenge, this month's is quite a bit more open. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it is to come up with a map that is nautically-themed. This could be a deck plan of a ship, a map showing sea-borne trading routes, a map illustrating a naval battle, a map showing an underwater ruin or lair, or any other sea-going map you can come up with.

Title each new thread May/June Lite Entry - <your title>

Precede each WIP image with the tag ### Latest WIP ###.

The challenge will end on or around the 13th of June, and the winner will receive a silver compass, glory, and maybe a groupie or two.

Interesting theme indeed

I've always wanted a grou… I mean, silver compass!

If I get a good idea I think I'll give this a try, I've been thinking of a watercolor technique for island groups that could fit nicely in this theme.

Cool concept! Definitely joining this time!

Man, shame I already have a regular compass. I would love to bring the lair of my Dwarven Pirates to life.

OK, I've been away a while because of Real Life (TM). But I'm ready to come back in and take a gander at another challenge :). Nautical themed? hmm.....

06-01-2013, 10:40 AM
Welcome back, you've still got plenty of time, about 15 days.

06-01-2013, 07:02 PM
Yep, never too late to join the fun. :)

A note to entrants present and future: Please make sure you put the ### Latest WIP ### tag above your attachments, or they will not show up in the thumbnail scraper and the voters won't be as easily able to see your entry. That seems to be the main stumbling block for all of these challenges, for some reason.

Thanks, guys :)

I'd just like to say that you guys have NOT made my job easy this month. Look at all the entries! This might be one of the most-participated-in contests I've seen in my time here.

Do you know how long it's gonna take me to put together the links an poll for this in a few days? :D

06-11-2013, 01:50 PM
That's why you make the big bucks! LOL

06-11-2013, 06:46 PM
....right. :D

06-13-2013, 05:46 PM
Diamond, when are you gonna be closing the comp...just so I have a deadline in mind.

06-13-2013, 05:51 PM
Wait for me, you guys!!
I'm finishing my entry tonight!

06-13-2013, 07:45 PM
On a prior post on a different thread Diamond said he would be closing it Sunday.

06-13-2013, 08:34 PM
Yup, Sunday morning. That's really the first large block of time I'll have to do it in.

06-13-2013, 08:34 PM
Excellent I've decided to change my concept and wanted to make sure I had enough time. A city is way too time consuming haha.

06-15-2013, 05:50 PM
Just a reminder: the challenge will be ending in a bit less than 24 hours. I'm planning to lock the threads at around noon Pacific time tomorrow.

About an hour and a half... any last minute updates, now's the time.
