Hi guys,
For the next issue of a french RpG mag, I needed to work on a cemetery of various gods, in the middle of a city.
Hope you'll like it ;)

First step, the ground level, next, the underground ^^

As usual, comments are welcome ;)

Beautiful! I particularly like the pavilions irreverently attached to the walls.

Brings back fond memories of the birdcages (my character spent a few cold nights hanging in one of those...) Awesome already and I can't wait to see more !!

Thank you. You definitely know how to flatter my ego :P
The good part of not being professional is to always be swamped, to say the least. Once you start to do it for a living, I believe you are more stressed, especially when dealing with finishing touches/productivity/commissions.
I'm lucky enough to have a life that allows me to get reasonable income and time to be spent on my hobbies ;)

Hi guys,
Thanks for the support ;)

Here's an update
Fixed some roofs, added the fountain, graves, scaffolds, tweaked the transparency here and there.
Still have to finish up the cast shadows, dust, lining and some other little things

I'm working on the underground right now. Let's see what I can do ;)

Great job so far :) Are you gonna label it?

Dain
06-04-2013, 10:47 AM
Yes I'll add labels, frame and everything.
I just wait until everything's done. I'm still wondering whether I combine the map or do something a bit different. I've got some ideas that need to be tested first ^^

Sweet B-jesus, that is so insanely awesome. I love it!

How are you drawing this, exactly? Photoshop? How do you get the lines so straight and ... erm ... parallel?

To be honest, this is something I should do. I'm trying to get into it but I'm so terrible with colors ... one day, hopefully ^^

Fantastic artwork!!
Thanks man, makes me feel good ;)

I do use PS. Using shift-clic, you can draw straight lines quickly. I also use isometric guides to make sure the lines are parallel.
I believe there are threads on this boards that are treating the subject. I may post mine if you ask for it ;)

Thanks.
I will give guides. Just to think about it now :P

I agree fully with black cross here :)

If I had more time I'd offer to put some colours on for you. Maybe if you decide not to do it yourself when you're finished?

Just Wow...

I'm amazed and wondering. Did you get inspiration from real buildings? I mean, I'm a poor drawer for this but I would have been so glad to sketch some castles or buildings I have seen...

Thanks for giving your opinions guys, it's good to share, especially when it's positive :P

I've always loved architecture and old buildings and I guess I have possibly some relevant opinions about how to draw them. That's pretty much the only inspiration I have. Of course, I can google some names of city I know having a lot of that kind of buildings, but I'm definitely not trying to reproduce real buildings.
Hope I answered your question ;)

07-17-2013, 08:26 AM
Yes, thanks!

I was just talking of inspiration, not of copying. Even if there are much wonders in the world, imagination is a powerful tool !
And sadly, in real life, it's quite rare to see a concentration of beautiful buildings as shown in you cemetery of the thousand.

I think my favourite thing is that you haven't neglected to scatter in a bit of debris and rough edges, even at this scale. This is such an evocative map!
