It's time to start the third regional map of Oraven, the Cold Hell. First step with the landmass and coastlines.

Hell, yes! :D

Looking forward to the next part of Oraven. Will you try to make the forests look more northern (aka conifer/fir trees)?

Awesome, I was wondering when we'd see your next map :)

Oh oh some loyal supporters here ;) Thanks guys!
@ Eilathen, actually, both Savage lands and Red Moors trees are conifers/firs but at this scale this can be easily seen on individual ones :/

Hm, i always thought that you had fir trees in those forests, sure, but i always "read" them as mixed forests. With this map i thought maybe we will see pure fir tree forests.
Be that as it may, the forests on your first two maps were awesome, so i am not complaining ;)

Yay, more Oraven! I'm enjoying the styles. Did you hand draw those coastlines on paper and scan it or is it all done in photoshop?

Great as usual, can't rep you. I might think the forest is too grainy here. It sure catches the eye. :)

Thanks Obehobbe :) Yes it's a bit grainy when zoomed in but should be fine at print size.

Excuse me while I gush... Just a great map, even the shape of the land captures the "cold hell" It's jagged, intimidating, and sort of broken! Can't say enough nice things about it!

Are those forests done with the SpeedTree (or whatever it's called) software ?
Anyway, once again, a gorgeous map. Do you think you could join all your Oraven maps at some point for a giant map ?

the forest are some patterns of my own on which I apllied a combination of overpainting and filters then I turned them into new patterns. Once some several blocks patterns are cloned on the map I make some slight dark area on a new layer under the forest one. then I apply 2 highlights made with a custom brush (same color but pressure, opacity and size of the brush different on the 2 highlights).

Thanks Lezales :) For now, the plan is to make an Atlas of oraven with a few big regional maps (like the savage lands, the red moors, the cold hell and some others), a worldmap (less detailed) to locate all the regions and maybe some close zoomed in maps of some parts of the big ones.

I'm very impressed with how all the Oraven maps have a distinct mood, yet they all fit together. Really looking forward to the world map, and you are working so fast so it might not be such a long wait? :P

Yea that was the point with those maps : making different and distinct maps with a consistent style overall. But I still have a lot of work to do ;)

The map is now finished and it's here (http://www.cartographersguild.com/finished-maps/24175-oraven-cold-hell-fantasy-map.html#post221800). As always, thanks for the support and the comments guys!

An Atlas??!! When? Where? :)
Please put a big bright flag on the topic when you put the Oraven maps together !
Ah! I'm gonna keep following your work with admiration anyway !;)
