Hey guys,

Here's a piece commissioned by the writer Andreas Huesman for his current book project. Obviously the request was a black and white map (6"x8") :) This was digitally hand-drawn on Photoshop, as usual.

Excellent work as always, although I could nitpick to personal tastes, LOL... a touch busy for me in a B&W... the work itself is very nice for the style. I would also have preferred niftier symbols for this style, but that's just another nit.

Nice map! I can't help myself to think it would be better with colours or a texture effect, though.

I like it. For a book i think it is intricate enough. Especially if it is only a MMPB.
As always, nice mountains! Have a Like.

I first tried more pictural icons but that made the map busier so i decided to go with more simple and legible ones.

The request was pretty clear : no color, no digital effect or textures, full hand-drawn map (except labels) ;)

Since terrains types are drawn and symbols (cities, roads) are pretty obvious, there's indeed no need of legend on this kind of map ;)

Lol...sorry guys/gals...i was under the impression that on a forum such as this, everyone is geek enough to know shorthand for stuff like mmpb aka mass market paperback ;) The smallest paperback version of books.

The client asked me a 6x8" size so as far as I know this is roughly the size he wants it to be printed.

lol for the jokes.

Yes Max, but still impressed with the legend. Usualy we see one full of anything ( a time line, some part of history, names...) with icons in map or not :D That is what i am saying 8)

Nice and quiet effective style for books. The seize of the Mountains are realy working with the limits of a Booksize map.

Thanks guys, yes working on B&W is pretty interesting (though not that easy to be effective)
