View Full Version : The Great Divide

I very rarely do any sci-fi mapping, and I wanted to change that. This is a pretty big project, hopefully it'll turn out somewhat decent.
The galactic arms that are showing as of now are just placeholders; if anything remains to indicate arm position, it'll end up looking substantially different. There may not even be any representation of the arms. If I can get the political boundaries looking how I want, there may not be any need.

OOOOOOO, interesting. Listen, I doubt you need more references being the veteran cartographer you are, but I'd like to point you in the direction of Distant Worlds (http://core0.staticworld.net/images/article/2013/08/distant-worlds-established-empire-100049831-gallery.png), which is a space 4x, but more importantly in that it might provide you an interesting jumping-off point for a political/galactic map! Enjoy!
I'm looking forward to seeing this complete!

Heaven of mappers, yes! I'm very curious and eager to see you make a sci-fi map, Diamond! :)

looks very interesting! So what will the great divide be here? I assume that since it's a sci-fi map the cultures and nations represented in it it will have the technology to travel through space?

The Great Divide is that big gulf between the two galactic arms; this map is set after a sort of galactic dark age, and its an age of exploration and colonization. Think 18th - 19th century age of colonization, in space.
