Indie game design studio, SPQR Games, is launching a new medieval fantasy game setting called 'Guild of Shadows' We are looking for a talented mapmaker to design our city for print and PDF.

Number of maps:
One city map providing basic city layout in 8-10 districts as well as 20-30 specific locations.
Three maps, each of a specific city district in more detail.

Details:
Fantasy coastal city made up of 8-10 districts. The city is divided by a river and also features some changes in elevation (with a castle located on cliffs above the harbor). See this map for an example of quality and detail level. (http://www.greenronin.com/freeport/freeport_map_big.jpg)

The overview city maps will show city layout, main streets, and key locations. The detailed district maps will show additional road details (detailed enough for players to plan ambushes and scope escape routes). See this map for example of quality and detail. Technical:
300 dpi minimum
Jpg, tiff, or png output and native files
11x17 print size
Full color

Copyright:
Full ownership by SPQR Games.
Cartographer will be credited in book and can use maps in portfolio.

Timeline:
First draft of main city map - May 19
Final draft of main city map - May 30
First drafts of 3 district maps - June 16
Final drafts of 3 district maps - June 27
Final versions of all maps - July 11

Payment:
$500*, payable on the following schedule:
25% on acceptance of final draft of city map
25% on acceptance of final draft of district maps
50% on acceptance of final files
A hardback copy of the finished book upon publication

(*Fee may be negotiable for highly talented candidates)
