This forum is specifically for finished maps only.

We would prefer that maps have an appropriate WIP thread posted in one of the Mapmaking forums (http://www.cartographersguild.com/forumdisplay.php?f=30) and discussed through to finalization before posting your map in here. Alternately, if you have a map that you consider finished, post it here.

***UPDATED RULES!***

The format of your initial post is now important. We will be changing the way we handle featured maps (Now Cartographers Choice Maps). Featured maps will be hand picked, but you will not be contacted for Artist Notes via PM. Your post in this forum should now at a minimum have a brief write-up of your map and its creation process, and MUST include an attached image of your map. Basically anything you would like displayed with your map should it be picked as a Cartographers Choice Map.

If you would like an idea as to how this should look. Read the Artists Notes section of any one of the threads here: http://www.cartographersguild.com/forumdisplay.php?f=43

Consequently - Any map posted in this forum that catches the eye of the staff could be scarfed up and featured in the Cartographers Choice forum, which is automatically mirrored on the front page of the website. Therefore, posting your map in this forum grants the Cartographers' Guild consent to feature your map. Copyright still belongs to the poster, and the same general rule for re-use without permission (see note at very bottom of every page) applies, except for the fact that The Cartographers' Guild reserves the right to feature the map.

Also, it is perfectly ok to go back and edit your first posts in order to meet the requirements.

If there are any questions regarding this new development and the map featuring process, please bring it up with a staff member in the General Discussion forum or via the Contact Us link.

Note...These rules are now updated! All members should read the above rules updates, and get to posting your finished maps. Unless there's a VERY specific situation arising, only maps posted in this forum and with a decent write-up will be considered for featuring! ;) Good luck!

Slight policy update here. All maps posted here are subject to be used for promotional means on behalf of the Cartographers' Guild.

Recently spoke with Johnn Four of roleplayingtips.com fame, and he mentioned the possibility of using maps from this site as "clipart" in some of his blog posts, and of course linking back to the original threads.

So as always, you will maintain your ownership of images you create, but be advised that maps may be cross-posted to other sites for cross-site promotion.

If you wish to deny this from happening, simple place a note in your original post that you would like your map to not be cross-posted. Feel free to go back and edit any of your previous postings to include this cross-post denial. But this is an excellent way to bring more visibility to both the site, and some of its members fantastic cartography.

EDIT: Maps that have cross-posting denied are unable to be chosen as Featured Maps in the Cartographers Choice gallery.

***Update***

Maps posted in this Finished Maps forum should be of your own creations. While they can contain clip art/contents not originally created by you (as many users use token/icon based mapping software) the map as a whole should be an original creation. Variants, deviations, and mash-ups should not be posted here.

Thank you!

As a convenience, you can make a link to YOUR finished map posts using the following URL:

http://www.cartographersguild.com/search.php?do=finduser&u=768&starteronly=1&forumchoice%5B%5D=36&contenttype=vBForum_Post

Where you replace the 768 (my user ID) with your user ID (which you can get by clicking on the User CP, the "Your Profile" and looking at the URL at the top. (in my case it is

http://www.cartographersguild.com/member.php?u=768

And if you want to add it to your sig use the following bbcode (again replacing the 768 with your user ID and removing the space after the first square bracket which was added so it would show up in this post):

[ url=http://www.cartographersguild.com/search.php?do=finduser&u=768&starteronly=1&forumchoice%5B%5D=36&contenttype=vBForum_Post]Title for my link[/url]
