Ok here we go :)

Actually this is just a little bit more than a placeholder as I just started to do the grounds :)

I most certainly wont keep the water texture, its a placeholder for now. THe white space at right is reserved for some map symbols.

As usual, everything is done in GIMP :)

Map size is 36x24 inch @ 100 dpi, just for GP to prove that GIMP can handle this easily ;)

My daugter was sick the last few days, so I didnt have the opportunity to work on my challenge.

Though I really hope to do an update tomorrow and finish my entry in time :)

Heh ok, this will be a rush for the deadline now :)

I decided that it would took too much time to work with my first sketch so I started again.

Here is what I've done today :)

It's missing some building descriptions on the right, but overall I got pretty far :)

I am still playing around with some filters as well, which would spice up the image a bit.

As usual everything is done in GIMP.

Another update,

added the compass rose and the labels, just the scale is missing now.

If if get some more time, I'll add the scale and gonna apply a filter on the map.

The image used on the right panel is taken from www.fromoldbooks.org and is public domain.

The roof pattern is a free to use pattern taken from the Dundjinni forums.

The compass rose is taken from this (http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=2078&highlight=compass+pack) thread.

Nice work - I really like the image of the tower on the right.
