View Full Version : Evolution of elevation; aka How I got where I am

I rumaged through my old D&D boxed sets from the 80s (red-basic, blue-expert, teal-companion, black-master, and gold-immortal) and found some old maps, including an epic 41-level dungeon with 1280+ rooms. I scanned a couple of these in to think about tweaking them since these were done some 24 years ago. That dungeon could provide Turgenev a back-up if his machine ever breaks down ;) I'll hold onto that for a bit cuz it will take quite a while to scan all of that in.

The third image here is the first map I did using Photoshop in September of 2005. The fourth is from February 2006 and the fifth is from March 2006. As you can see I didn't map so prolifically as I do now so the evolution was quite slow. Since joining the guild I crank out a map every week or so until I get burned out then I take a month off.

Here's 5 more. The first is from March 07, the second is from April 07, the third is from September 07, the fourth is from December 07, and the fifth is from January 08. At the end of May 2008 I found The Guild and have since become obsessed :) and hopefully much better. Now I gotta find me a guild to help me with housecleaning.

So cool to see how you progressed with the same style.
I wish I had all my old maps archived away!
I have to look for my GM binder.

Can't wait for that 1280+ room dungeon. You actually drew all of that out?

Really cool to see that progress. The vulcano on your 6th map is awsome.

Hey, when you find that guild, could you send me a link to it, that could come in real handy at times.
