The environmental Web Ecoist (http://webecoist.com/2008/12/02/strange-and-bizarre-endangered-animal-species/) blog has a selection of animals most bizarre, scary and weird. Take a look at some of them:arrow:

Jesus I didn't know they got THAT big.

I once started writing a story (well a serial that didn't get anywhere but I still have the ideas around) where one of the characters, a Neurologist-MD/Geneticist/(Mad Doctor, spoilers~) had coconut crabs as pets. The doctor was named after an obscure French poet who had an awesome name for a neurologist (DE NERVAL, a nom de plume but still awesome), and he had a pet lobster called Thibault. The coconut crab was called Lucien. There would have been genetically modified supercrabs if I ever had got to that point, a few stories later after the first one...

Cool link. It reminded me of the Barry the Giant Sea Worm (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1165930/Barry-giant-sea-worm-discovered-aquarium-staff-mysterious-attacks-coral-reef.html) story that came out a little while ago.

re Sea Worm - Very cool!

I can't believe the comments from people who said "its ugly" they should get rid of it!

If it was 20ft and growing a foot a day I'd agree. What a compelling beastie. If it were close I'd go to see it. Doubt it do more than hide though.

I love the bit that says the sea worm is capable of inflicting permanent numbness on humans with its sting. Wow! That worm must have some Carrion Crawler blood in it. :P

Yeah good pic that worm thing. Some interesting beasts are pretty ugly...

A site oft quoted as being a good resource but I haven't been there much is this one...

Found the site hard to nav. Try this link to it.
