Hi gang,

I'm new here! I heard about The Cartographers' Guild from the CC2 mailing list and over at EN World.

I've been a CC2 user for almost ten years, and I'm currently using CC3 with all its new features. I'd also like to learn more about using programs like GIMP and Photoshop for making maps.

My RPG cartographic interests include the full spectrum of maps for roleplaying games, from Victorian horror to Star Trek, and everything in between.

Right now I'm interested in using CC3 to emulate 18th and 19th century city maps such as Greenwood's map of London. This is my main project.

I've been lurking around here for a couple of days, and already I've learned a lot of new stuff. This is a great community and I'm looking forward to being a part of it. :)

Thanks for having me!

Welcome aboard Jaerdaph! You may want to post a couple of those city maps that you are working on here in the WIP topics to start getting some feedback and show off what you have done so far.

Just FYI: Jaerdaph is no slouch in the cartography department! I've seen his maps over at EN World.

Great to have you, & I agree with RP: post those 18th century maps! :)

Welcome, Jaerdaph,

I used to play a lot of CoC by Gaslight. Looking forward to seeing your Victorian maps! That's one area of mapping I'd like to do more of. I have an old ordinance survey Atlas of England in the 19th Century, so if you need any particular locations drop me a line and I'll send you a scan.

Indeed! That is why I posted an invitation to the thread he started. ;)

Thanks for the kind words of welcome, guys. :) I'll definitely start a thread about what I want to do - emulating 18th and 19th century city maps with CC3 in WIP/Critique this weekend when I get a little free time. I'm looking forward to all the advice and inspiration from the Guild.

Hi Ravs,

I've played some CoC by Gaslight too, but I've always been a fan of Bill Connors' Masque of the Red Death setting. I'm also a big Sherlock Holmes buff, so I really enjoy games set in the Victorian era.

That ordinance survey atlas sounds really interesting. I'll have to take you up on that some day. :)
