I put together a little tutorial on how to make a forest like the one shown below. As always, if anyone has questions or suggestions for improvement, I'd love to hear them :)

Oooooo pretty... I can't rep you because of the rep I gave you for the conversion of Ascension's atlas tut... but THIS is going in my list of ways to do things...
Someday... perhaps someone should go back and put RobA's tutoral(and his mountain tutoral update) and this together as a "revised region tutorial"

Very nice! I like the initial use of the noise layer to generate the forest outlines!

I didn't like the forests Rob A. has in his hugely awesome gigantic GIMP tutorial of how to make a good fantasy map. I'm pretty specific of how I want my forest to look, so I went on a journey to venture through the tutorial section of this forum (Kinda declined every tutorial untill this one..). I stumbled across this tutorial after some time, looking at the pictures. I really, really, really! like this alot!! :) thank you!
it's very close, if not completely what I wanted~! :)
