Here's a map for a game related project. Made in Photoshop. The borders will probably be a little thinner in the finished product.

I particularly like the large body of water north of the Persian Gulf in Iraq.

Hehe... nothing else strange on the map?

Looks a lot like the "travel maps" that are superimposed in the Indiana Jones moives when Indy travels. The map borders (pre-WW2) seem to confirm this.

Also, cuba is bent out of shape.

Some islands are larger.

There seems to be a massive lake in eastern Washington state...

I'm not real fond of the Mercator projection and there are lots of fiddly little details that are different (that mod in Iraq would have had profound effects on human history). Otherwise it looks like a good base and is pretty much all recognizable.

Not Realistic. Because there is not "Ukraine" country on your map. and some other.

Looks like the USSR is shown as a single monolith without the individual republic boundaries.

You got me beat. Is this the world after the sea has risen quite a bit ? Or maybe some of it is higher and some lower. My geography is not good enough to know whats sufficiently low and what is not. Around the UK where I am naturally more familiar, I can see that a lot of Wales has gone but Wales is not particularly a low land and the bit that is low seems to be still there. :?:

definitely some sea level modifications. Singapore has gone (and many Malaysians might think that a good thing ;) )

I expect that the map is one of those figurative maps without trying to be literally exact. Game maps tend to be that way.

*scratches head* I must say, I don't think I've ever seen that cluster of islands to the right of Iceland before.

since when do newfies get their own country?

It was still part of the UK for a while even when Canada was already a Dominion (and later independent).

As said, the borders seem to be interwar period, with the ones in africa denoting the various colonial territories (e.g. Algeria and NW Africa were both French, but the territories were seperate). South of Lithuania (you have Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) you have East Prussia seperated by the Polish Corridor from West Prussia. In Asia, you have Tibet still independent, Korea united (under Japanese rule), and - next to Mongolia - Tannu Tuva.

must be set sometime after the great Microsoft-Baghdad War of 2015.
