That is amazing.

Of course my first thought was to have a miniature tabletop battle in there :P

I've seen this before, it's an amazing model he's built. It could be argued that he's building a 3D map so imo it is a great link for the sight

If anyone ever again complains about my nerdyness, Ill smack that article in their face O_O

And oh, that temple is AWESOME. It's in one of my favourite architectual styles :D

And I thought I had a lot free time on my hands, yowza. Reminds me of a guy who owns a rival stained glass shop in town who built a mini Noah's ark about 20 years ago and rode it down the Missouri river.

Impressive to be sure. But he says that each of the 4000 figures takes him 3 hours to make, and to be honest, they don't exactly look like they should be taking 3 hours to do. The temple itself is tremendous, though.

maybe 2 and a half of those hours are baking time in the oven?

I can't say I'm impressed by the figures close-up but that thing is pretty amazing taken as a whole...should probably be in a museum somewhere. Somebody rep that guy :)

Sure, I bet it started with:

"I cant just make a nativity creshe, everyone has done that".
"But where will I put my little wiseman ......"

Kidding aside, its pretty impressive. Better hobby than drinking.

Why am I picturing dedicating myself to something like this only to have my grandchildren come in one day like a Roman legion and leave me with nothing but the Wailing Wall?

Better hobby than drinking.

Craft beer is one of my other "hobbies", so the jury is still out on that one. ;)

i read the first sentance as..

"Alec Garrard, 78, a retarded farmer..."

pretty much sums up spending that long on a model.. looks pretty amazing but come on... 30 years?

I said drinking brewing, vintning and similar creative pursuits are a noble and gracious contribution to the hospitality of the species - and really good. :)
