View Full Version : [Paid - Taken] cartographer needed for fantasy maps of world, region, and city

I am seeking a map maker for a fantasy world building project. To establish the seriousness of this project, please note that the enitre world setting has been written with rough sketched maps made; I, however, am a writer and not an artist/cartographer and would delegate that task to a someone who knows that they are doing.

This is a paid project with a negotiable fee based on the quality of the work and time to delivery. I am seeking the following maps, each of which may be taken by a different cartographer if need be as I recognize that different types of maps may require different skill sets:

1. World map displaying the continents of the world - this map will need to be large enough to show the various physical and political features of the two major continents.
2. Regional map of the primary setting area - a peninsula with various city states
3. map of a port city
4. map of an imperial capital city
5. map of an in-land, large city

For the world and regional maps, you will be provided with rough, scanned sketches; for the urban cities, you will be provided written descriptions and sketches if necessary.

Time Constraints: There are no particular time constraints, but project consideration will be given to someone who can give a reasonable time frame. For a rough estimate, 45-60 days.

Style - With regard to style, I am looking for maps that are professional to semi-professional. As to examples, please consider the following approaches as examples only. I am willing to consider other styles and approaches. Generally, however, I prefer "realistic" looking maps over ones that are overly bright and cartoon-like.

Copyright - With regard to copyright, I will have the right to use the image for commercial purposes and will hold copyright on the image, the artist will have the right to exhibit the image as part of his portfolio, but may not resell the map for commercial gain.

Thank you for your time and interest. As I am new to the forums, I can not receive PM's, so please send an email to sidhu.psych - at - gmail (and, yes there is a period between the words sidhu and psych). Of course, you may also simply reply to this post.

Thanks for the update, I changed the thread's title so it reflects the commission is now taken.

I'm glad you were able to find someone. I really like the maps you had as suggestions. One day I hope to get up to this level. I'm not sure I'll ever get to commission, but I can hope!

I for one would love to see what has been completed for this rather large project. If it is possible to post as your portfolio. Im new here so I have no idea if it has.
