Robbie's Admin Blog

This is a blog I'll be trying to maintain as the administrator/owner of The Cartographers' Guild. I will share my thoughts with you dear readers about the running of the site and bits and pieces of my boring life.

  1. Holy lost admin duties batman!

So, The past couple of years have been a roller coaster ride for me. And luckily the site has survived the turmoil thanks to the dedication and hard work of the community leaders and ALL of you members that continue to post here and drive this community to be what it is today. For that I thank you all, and I also thank you all for your continued support in keeping this place funded. I've been spending quite a bit of time these last few days getting back in the saddle with my admin duties in order ...

  2. Now THAT'S Dedication!

Well would ya look at that! The Cartographers' Guild is all grown up! Earlier this week, with the help of your generous donations, we made the switch to a dedicated server. That means we have an entire server all to ourselves with nothing on it but the Guild. Thsi means the skies the limit for us! In the next few months, we'll hopefully be doing a little bit of research into ways to improve things even more around here, now that we have the performance issue solved. I encourage all members to browse ...

  3. Reddit and Internets and Work

Well, I have some amazing news! I now have non-military internet access at work...Which means I can now access the guild AND related sites from an administrative capacity, something that has crippled my participation here since I moved to Ohio. I end up having most of my computer time at work, but at the most basic I could browse the forums. Now I can access anything. Expect some further improvements and participation from me as things progress.

In other news, I've recently become ...

  4. Move complete...now what?

I moved into my new house this weekend. Been off the grid the whole time mostly, except for the ability to check a few things from my phone. I'm happy to see this place it at least still here! I know my CLs would have notified me if something bad happened.

Anyways, the move went off without a hitch. We had a truck on Friday and filled it with quite a bit of stuff, all the furniture, and a bunch of boxes. We had to leave behind some things, and we went back to get them on Saturday ...

  5. On moving EVERYTHING.

I may have mentioned that I'm buying a house. My wife and I have moved from Florida to Ohio and have been living in a small apartment with most of our home-making implements in storage (since we had a nice house in florida). This is all about to change because we're buying a nice smallish brick ranch house on 5 acres. I'm super excited about it because even though the living space is listed as only 1218 square feet, there's a full finished basement that is the same size as the house that's not ...
