My KotS WIP and RFC
Using RobA's excellent script and some tips from here or there I started on my version of Level 1 of Shadowfell Keep. It's still early in the process but I welcome any advice.
I'm still experimenting with how to handle curtains (I like the wavy lines but I can't make them nice with Gimp yet), good ways to draw, or grab barrel images, etc.
I'll probably concentrate on the upper left and top as this map is destined for Maptool and that's where the players left off last time around.
I really like how the background of rock doesn't dominate the whole thing. The floor coloring is also well done and together they both blend well together to make a unified whole. All I can really say is that the doors might need some work but this is a very appealing map to me. Gimme some more :)
RobA's script really makes it easy (and makes churning out quick maps for a session achievable).
I futzed with the doors for quite awhile and finally just settled. Any advice is definitely appreciated.
I'm going for a slightly cartoony (that's not exactly the right word but the connotation is there I think) feel rather than realistic. For those that have seen the map style in D&D 4e material that's more or less what I'm copying. I'm not an artist so I have to borrow wherever I can ;)
@jgerman - This is coming along very nicely and I agree with Ascension on the color scheme.
If you haven't checked them out already, I would suggest the Dundjinni forums as a place to find about anything you could possibly need. Unless you really want to do it all by hand.
I like it. I think it has a lot of promise. Keep up the good work.
Ok, here's a door I made up for ya. I made it a rectangle instead of a square, put a roof thatch pattern on top and then a brown color overlay, and a black stroke (to try and keep the feel you were going for). The first one I made was too dark and blended in too well so I put a soft white layer on top to lighten it up. Use if ya like or disregard if it looks bad.
