Hi I'm after someone to please make me a map for a novel I'm working on, it's set in a medieval fantasy world.

Attached is a very rough drawing of the main countries Attachment 54277 and their relation to one another. These are just the countries that I talk about in my novel there can be other countries around them, though I'd like there to be sea to the right of Aragoth and Horras as the characters take a boat to the Isle of Mef. I haven't created names for the seas sorry, though I'd love recommendations.

I'm After a Map in a style similar to http://www.cartographersguild.com/at...er-sea-map.jpg
Though nowhere near as large or detailed as it will be going in a novel over 2 pages, the map makers name would be included in the book.

Time Constraints within the next month or 2

I will have the right to use the image for commercial purposes, the artist will have the right to exhibit the image as part of his portfolio but not to exploit it for commercial gain as I'd be using it in my novel, I'm open to negotiations on cost.

You can contact me at matthew@matthewhutchins.com

I may take a little while to respond as I live in Australia.

If I'm unable to find anyone I'll use all the lovely information here to try and construct my own map.

Hi everyone,
I'm Arvind, and I make computer RPGs under the moniker of Pyrodactyl. I would like to commission a world map of an inland city for my upcoming game titled "Unrest".

Payment
Preferably via Paypal, with a budget of 100 USD.

Description
The map will be primarily focused on an inland city called Bhimra and it's neighboring regions, out of which the player will visit the following:
Farms outside the city
Walls and the main gate
Slums
Rich district (where the houses of the nobles and rich merchants are)
Worker district (the place where most of the working class live)
Marketplace
Temple (a large temple that is a prominent landmark in the city)
Castle (home of the royal family)

There are two other cities in the area, but they cannot be visited in the game and will just be represented by simple icons or outlines.
I will also need a "fog of war" style texture, which will be used to obscure unexplored areas of the map inside the game.

Here are some concept sketches about the task:
Concept art of the city
The map layout (alternate blank version)
How concept art matches the map

The areas in general will be represented with either a repeating texture of houses, or a color - only a few buildings need special icons:
1. the mercenary guild
2. castle
3. temple

I also require general purpose icons for:
1. shop
2. hut
3. normal house
4. rich house
5. quest symbols (like ?, X)

Style
The map would be a simple color map, with a parchment background and solid color areas like green for forests, light green for grasslands, brown for arid regions. Slightly different colors or shading for the different districts will be a nice plus to have. The map will be similar in style to this image.

Quality & Size
Ideally, I should be able to ship the map as a small sized poster (17" x 11") in collector's editions, and use a scaled down version of the same image in the digital version of the game. The image resolution will be 5100x3300 at 300 dpi.

Time Constraints
Not strict, but would like the finished map within a month from the date of commission.

Copyright
I will have the right to use the image for commercial purposes, the artist will have the right to exhibit the image as part of their portfolio but not to exploit it for commercial gain.

Contact
You can contact me at my email address, arvind -at- pyrodactyl -dot- com, or use the contact form on my website.

I am in need for a theatre for an adventure I will be running this fall.

I have the adventure and some scanned pen and ink drawings that I would like someone to turn into better maps that I can use in my VTT.

The time frame is far enough out there should not be a problem for anyone.

Type & Number of maps:
The theater concept is complete so tracing the layout and adding appropriate fill and textures is really all that is required.
There are six drawings total although half are for open area seating or the stage area.

Technical:
300 dpi minimum. Jpg, tiff, or png files
Full color

Copyright:
Remains with cartographer I will only be using this for my personal game. I encourage posting a work in progress thread so that the Guild can see the work under way.

Deadline:
I would like to have this wrapped up sometime in August if possible but I am flexible on that time frame as this adventure will be run sometime in the fall or later.

Payment:
I would like to budget $25 US for this project

Hey. I made a map using AutoRealm, but now want a more professional job than I seem to be able to produce. :P

The intention is to render a DnD campaign setting I've been working on, to accompany the many pages I have written about it. My end goal is to upload it as a free-to-use setting source for DnD players; thus, any map maker should be ok with that use of the image before work begins.

I exported my map to a .bmp and edited in paint for easy landscape type referencing. Regions are coloured to fit intended biomes:

Blue = Tundra
Green = Grassland
Yellow Green = Arid Plainlands
Sand = Desert

Mountains are represented via an AutoRealm mountain icon, and are those large black swarths that cut through the land. Most mountains are the same size; I did experiment with mixing different icons in when I first started, but feel free to regard those as any of the other mountain icons. The mountainous region in the Centre-East should have some height to it's deeper ranges if possible. Also be aware two volcano icons exist on the landscape furthest east; one in the centre of that landmass, and one in the north. They are indeed Volcanos; just render them as larger mountains to make them more distinct.

Forrests of note are represented as groupings of green dots (again, an AutoRealm icon). The landmass on the east of the map has a different green icon covering it's southern half - this is due to it being rainforrest. The Western nations use yet another icon; this is representitve of Asiatic, bamboo forrests.

Semi-circle 'bumps' represent hills or dunes depending on biome. The 'dash with grass' icon (as seen in the Northern continant, along the east in the blue region, and again on the Western most continent next to the mountain range) represent swaplands. Patches of blue green in the eastern continent's rainforrest was used to also indicate swamp land (I changed icons for some unknown reason; sorry!).

Large blue lines and shapes represent notable rivers and bodies of water, respectively. The red circles indicate the location of a city or town, and I require only a dot to be placed there to indicate a settlement (I will add the names in myself). The olive lines represent the borders between nations. To keep consistancy with the way town names are presented, I will also label the nations myself.

The black 'barbed' line seperating the larger southern continent from the easternmost continent, after the mountainout region, is an artificial wall.

The large, black dot in the middle of the desert in the world's south is a vortex of dark energies; feel free to render some sort of 'black tornado' or other imaginative portrayl in that region.

In the map's south west, where the ocean is, place a compass and a scrolling banner in which I may insert the title. Feel free to use a large part of that oceanic space for this purpose.

Also, include a scale if you can; One Inch = 50 Miles on the map.

Use the biome colouring as a guide to how you may wish to portray those regions, and blend well to transition from one to another.

I'm after a coloured rendition, idealy more mute than overly vibrant in tone - not unlike a stereotypical 'Ye Olde' map, which a lot of you seem very good at making :P. As for payment, I'm interested in a quote; I admit I have no idea how much such a task like this may cost, but am happy to pay for it.

Questions welcome.

Project Scope:
Hello all. I'm running a 3.5 campaign and am in desperate need of a Yuan-ti temple. I've found a lot of great work but nothing that really captures what I'm going for. You can read a bit about my world, here, http://www.obsidianportal.com/campai...he-sages-stone

Setting:
This temple is located on an dense island jungle, it was sealed roughly 600 years ago, and is though to be completely abandoned.

Design Concept:
I have attached some sketches I did, hopefully it should give a good idea of what i'm looking for. I'm planning to use this with D20pro.

Number of maps:
3 maps of the temple
1st floor - This area is 10 foot high, from the second level
2nd floor - This area could be a bit darker then the upper level
Breeding Pits and F3 - I envision a greenish hue to the pool, and F3 is secret room accessible from the 2nd floor

Technical:
300 dpi minimum. Jpg, tiff, or png files
Full color

Copyright:
Remains with cartographer.

Deadline:
End of May would be great

Payment:
I don't have a lot to shell out for these the most I can pay is $20, via Paypal upon delivery of the final files.
I know the first thing you see is Unpaid and you instantly lose interest that you may have hard when you quickly glanced over my thread, but guys please give me a chance. I do not need you to do any thing crazy or something highly detailed. I already have an outline of my map and you can see it at the below of this post. All I need is for you guys to create objects that represent the different environments throughout the map. There are three different environments on the map that I designed: Red (Mountains), Green (Forests), Yellow (Hills). Also I need some kind of coloring for both the land and the sea. Also, if you guys are willing, I also need some kind of object to represents roads and cities. If you are willing to do the roads and cities I will tell you about them in more details.

First let me introduce myself, my name is Ryan and I am a recently graduated English Major about to write my first book. This is a paid job, I will be upfront and let you know I am not looking for the most detailed map because I don't have the money for that yet. This would just be concept work that I can start the creative writing process with a series of locations I can reference. I will be looking for more detailed maps for the novel once I have some ideas for locations withing the three main landmasses. I will leave it up to the artist to put their own touch on the coastal, arctics, jungle, deserts... ect. I wish for it to be geographically correct based on our worlds size, but with 3 land masses, 1 to be about 2/3 the size of Europe, except imagine it rotated 90 Degrees clockwise and rounded out somewhat so its not jutting out north and south so much. Land Mass 1 should be located to the east on the map, covering 2/3 of the right side of the map (Horizontally and Diagonal) with a long coast line with a few bays and ports ect. The back of this land mass should end about a inch from the furthermost right of the map so the backside is visible with a ocean filling out the rest to its East. Landmass 2 is On the western side and I would like it more Northwest and a good distance across the ocean from Landmass 1, about the same size as Iceland but with only the northernmost tip (1/5 of the total size) actually arctic, and warmer climates the further south you go. The distance between Land 1 and 2 is roughly the distance between South America and Africa. You will have freedom to make this more to your style, that's why I am asking for help because this is not my thing. I only have the general ideas feel free to do with them what you please. In the middle of the ocean between them, I want a large Island (Think Australia) with some few smaller islands around it. Because I want this is be fair for the money, I don't mind if only the main island is made and I will plot the rest for later on. I am a writer and this is my first book that I am going all out on. Later on I would like to keep the same artist to do more detailed maps and designs and that would be for copyright use and royalties will be paid. If this sounds interesting let me know please :) I can pay through Paypal, I am not sure the going rates all too well for this amount of work but lets start at $20 and if anyone will do it cheaper let me know, if not I will increase til first person takes it. BTW: I am not a annoying person, or rude at all, I am a businessman and I believe you should let a artist work. I expect the person to do the job but not if its not fair to them or the money offered is too low for what I asked, if this is the case please understand its because i'm a newb to this and am not trying to low ball anyone, so let me know if that's the case and I will work something out with one of you amazing artists. You guys rock.

Hello all,

Raleigh Tabletop RPGs, a North Carolina-based Meetup for gamers, hosts an annual fantasy gaming event each July which uses a shared-world setting, the Crimson Boar Inn. The Crimson Boar and its inhabitants and regulars are a result of a massive crowdsourcing project conducted in 2011, and the setting is circulated to members for free - we will never use this setting as a money-making device unless recruited to do so for a charity event.

We are seeking a cartographer to draw a map of the Crimson Boar Inn based on a loose set of dimensions and our room descriptions. Although a conceptual map is available for reference if required, our preference would be for the Inn to be drafted from scratch using only the descriptions.

Our minimum requirements for this project are as follows: The final map must be rendered in black-and-white on a 5-foot grid, similar to maps printed in mid-1990s issues of Dungeon magazine. Rooms on the map should be numbered to match the key given in the room descriptions. We would like the image to be of a high-enough resolution and quality that we could produce a print copy to scale (1 square=1 inch) for use as a battle map if the need arises.

We would be interested in commissioning a full-color map as well, if you would like to provide pricing for both black-and-white and color map renderings. Bear in mind, however, that as we are a small non-profit gaming club, our budget is limited.

Raleigh Tabletop RPGs must be given exclusive copyright ownership of the final work product for this project, although we certainly realize that the creator may wish to retain limited reproduction rights in order to feature the work in their portfolio, and we are amenable to such a request.

The final deadline for this project is 11:59pm on June 26th, 2013. Please respond to this thread if you are interested in taking on this project, and thanks in advance for your consideration!

Many Thanks & Best Regards,

I'm looking for someone who can make several maps in a homebrew fantasy world I'm using in some games I run and stories I'm tooling around with. Right now, I'm mainly looking for a "world" map (quotes because it's only a fraction of the entire world, but contains all the currently relevant regions). Eventually, I'll also want more specific regional and local maps, but I've got to have a world map first so that I've got a concrete geographic reference for everything else. I'd like to be able to step-by-step it with you if possible, instead of trying to describe everything all at once (especially since I'm not entirely sure where things are myself, thus the need for maps). We can nail down the coastlines/landmasses first, then rivers/mountains/forests, then the political stuff. Basically, the world map will be the edges of two continents and the ocean between them. About the same sizes/distances as the eastern US and western Europe, if Europe was at a similar latitude (i.e., further south). Between the two is a long chain of tiny islands; imagine the East Indies stretched across the Atlantic.

I'm not too picky about style, something like you might find at the beginning of a book is fine with me ( http://diydilettante.files.wordpress...11/09/map3.gif ), although if you want to get more detailed/pretty with it, I'm fond of this look: http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/20...li-d3iiezk.jpg

Of course, I don't expect you to exactly copy either style, they're just references. Size of each map will probably vary, and you folks would know more about that sort of thing than me. I don't think we'll be dealing with a great level of detail at first, so something on the smallish side would probably be best. I've seen some truly gargantuan maps on here, but I don't need anything approaching that. My screen resolution is 1600 x 900, and I'd like to be able to view it all at once, so maybe 1000 x 750 would be a good ballpark, or even 800 x 600. If you'd like to make them really big to leave room for future details, I certainly won't mind. Ratios would change depending on the particular map. If you'd like to make them really big to leave room for future details, I certainly won't mind.

As far as copyright stuff goes, I don't expect to make money off this, and I don't mind you using it non-commercially. If, by some stroke of divine luck, some opportunity for money-making presents itself (I write a novel set in this world, or something), I'd be happy to renegotiate then.

Timeframe is fluid. I'd like the world map fairly soon, within a couple weeks or so, if possible. As for the others, we'll take them on a case-by-case basis. I hope this will be an ongoing project, as I've been working on this world off and on for about two and a half years, and there's a lot to map (and once I've got some maps, I'm sure more will spring from them).

Now for the bit about pay. I can only budget so much for something that's a hobby, so I can only offer around $20 through PayPal per map. I'm happy to negotiate with you on that, though; if you're capable of really great work, I'll do my best to pay as much as I can.

Thanks for taking the time to wade through all that. I'm happy to answer any questions in this thread, or via email if you prefer: tktater at yahoo.com, as I can't do the private message thing here just yet. Thanks again!

Hey,
I am currently drafting a fantasy novel based loosely on A Song of Ice and Fire with influences from The Elder Scrolls, Arthurian Legend and more. I am the sort of writer that comes up with characters, places, events, etc. and then pieces the main story around them as I go along. The story takes place on an island ruled by one king and split into a number of holds, each looked after by a lord. The key story line involves the west of the island at war with the east.

With a few characters and guilds down on paper, I now wish to attack the geography, holds and lords. What I am thinking of is an island similar to the British Isles. The west is an infertile land where men struggle with everyday life and the east is a fertile, rich land. There are only two things that are necessities:
A mountainous region around NW on the map, right on the coast.
A wide body in the center of the island where a large hold sits (the center of trade).
The rest is down to you.
Here is what I would like my island based around.

The British Isles
http://www.naval-history.net/ww2mR010BritishIsles.GIF

Custom Map
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...eldonfinal.jpg

Westeros
http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__...steros_HBO.png

Since I am still young and writing is currently a hobby, there will unfortunately be no payment. However if this book materializes and is published, you will of course be fully credited for the design of the map and then would be a good time to talk about payment. Until then...

...I thank you in advance and look forward to seeing a great artist turn my idea into reality :D
Many thanks.

Copyright

•I would like reproduction rights to the map both in our books and on promotional material. Credit will be given to the artist, of course.

So i have taken it upon myself to finally start working towards my dream job. That is being a self published writer (short stories, and novels.) I plan to do mostly sci fi and fantasy stories where i blend the two genres to some degree.

Now my plan is to write all of these stories set in a world my girl friend and i have been working on in our spare time. She calls it her "Happy Place" because she literally goes there every night while she is trying to fall asleep. This world is pretty in depth, but there is still room for artistic freedom too. I have a basic map outline and a rough drawing that we tried to do, however, we are not artists nor cartographers by any means. It would just be used as reference material i think.

I tried to do what i could with it like i said above I'm no artist and it just looks half assed. For my purposes i really want something professional looking, or at least more professional then I'm capable of creating. I am also very willing to hire an amateur map maker if the price reflects the quality of the work. I would prefer it if you're more capable then i am though. You can see how horrible my map making talent are by looking at this Third Draft by ~lokiie1984 on deviantART

What the map will be used for: The map will be featured on my books website. As well as having smaller sections cut out and blown up to be used in the stories. To show the reader where the story takes place at. Something similar may be done on the website to show where each race lives and what their territory is.

I would like to have the map be colored on the website but if need be i can do that myself.

Payment: First and foremost your name will be featured in each story and on the kindle page for each story (below the title where it lists Author, illustrator, editor and all that.) I have a small budget to offer cash payment for the work, but it may be less than a job like this would normally get. I don't really know what prices things like this would normally run. Also please be open to some negotiations on your price. I'm willing to work on it if you are.

Rights: As long as i have the rights to use it online and in the books, i don't mind what you use the map for. I would, however, like it if you linked to my main page if you post it online.

Contact: Please email me with offers, if possible provide a link to past works, or attach it in the email. My email is Macinley1 [@] yahoo [.]com I did the extra symbols in the email to hopefully avoid the spam bots. You can also contact me through my website Tainted Legacy - Tainted Legacy or my deviant art account lokiie1984 on deviantART

Taken thanks for your interest :)

Project Scope:
Hi my name is Hal and I'm working on a little project called Arkham Investigator over on Boardgamegeek: Arkham Investigator: Core set

The game has been released as a playtest version and will be released soon (hopefully in the next couple of weeks) as a free to download print and play game. I hope to build some interest in the game and look to release as an actual kickstarter boxed boardgame around Christmas 2013. Initially I cannot pay for a map (three kids to feed, you know the drill) but when I launch the kickstarter I hope to be able to pay my artists / map makers from the proceeds. Realistically there is a chance the actual boxed game never gets made so obviously the payment will be negotiable and dependant on that - its primarily a not for profit fan-project initially.

Setting:
Fictional H.P. Lovecraft's Arkham, Mass. in the USA of the 1930s.

Design Concept:
Standard street maps of the city with building with their reference number on them. I have tried to do the map but it is quite amateurish: My weak effort in powerpoint.

I would like it to look a little more professional like the one that comes with Sherlock Holmes consulting detective: SHCD example map - or better ;) If possible can I have a look at previous work?

Number of maps:
One initially - if the Kickstarter is successful I hope to offer additional maps as stretch goals (Innsmouth, Kingsport, etc...)

Technical:
300 dpi minimum. Jpg, tiff, or png files
Full color

Copyright:
Remains with cartographer.
Publisher retains right to reproduce the map/s online for free download with the game and for promotional materials. Publisher will negotiate the right for physical copies of the map in a boxed boardgame if/when the situation arises.

Deadline:
I would like to have it done in the next couple of weeks (I would like to release version 2, on the 15th April but realise that is short notice).

Payment:
Initially nothing I'm afraid, but negotiable when the kickstarter begins.

Hi guys! I would like to hire someone from this community, paid, to create a map for a board game of mine. The layout of the map is already completed from a gameplay standpoint, i.e. the number of spaces, where the seaports are, etc. You would be handling the art side of things to make it beautiful and look neat.

The game is based in a fictional 19th century world. Imagine a large European-style landmass in a faux-Napoleonic style age. I'll have infantry and cavalry with big epaulettes on the cards -- it'll be a little silly. I'd love someone from this community to design the map that looks equally beautiful.

You would be creating two boards -- one for the 2 and 4 player layout, and one for the 3 player layout. Depending on your price, we can make them different landmasses (i.e. one is more mountainous, one is plains and forests) or keep them simple and make them largely the same. I'd like to give you the freedom to do that and make it fun.

Here is a picture of the 2/4 player board on my prototype. It's literally black lines on white paper -- purely functional. But this gives you an idea of what the game will look like in play and the rough layout of the board. http://hyperbolegames.com/files/2012/04/photo2.jpg

To be clear, you'd only be responsible for the map. Not the UI elements.

If you are interested in this, please post in the thread. Ideally if you could link to some of your work I could get a feel for your style. From there, we can take it to email and deal with payment, deadlines, things like that.

And if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask!
