So, this is the regional map I'm using in my Points of Light D&D 4e game.
The places named are the places the PCs know about.
It's missing a few touches, but it's sufficient for what we need.
First map using GIMP and the Regional Map Tutorial.

Looking good so far Sarkid. By the way, just a little hit regarding your forests, the edges look a tad bit sharp. This was always a problem with the initial tutorial I wrote, but if you read on a bit further in the trees tutorial thread, I've included an additional step which involves making individual trees to cover up the rough edges of the forest. Also, RobA posted a tip about how to make a drop shadow for the forests in case you don't have the "Layer Styles" plugin installed for GIMP. Here's just a couple of before and after pics to give you an example of what individual trees can add.
