Thread: Mystic Isle

This is the first of a series where I will take scans of old maps I drew by hand long, long ago (mostly) and attempt to create a nice new version on computer. I include the original version as scanned in for comparison. I tried to stay reasonably close to the original, but took advantage of a few tricks possible on the computer such as replacing my scribble for the Leaffall trees with a pattern and a gradient for "The Shelf". Some parts I simply redrew using the mouse, others were done with brushes created from scans of new hand drawings (some done specifically for this map, a couple already drawn as generic images).

Future maps in this series of redone maps will be posted as WIPs, but I did this one as a proof of concept for myself. I hope I'd be able to do better six months from now, but I'm pleased with it overall.
