Well, for trying out your first tut and finishing it I'd say good job. You seem to have been able to follow it and came up with something to get the mind-juices flowing.
The Empire from Sand to Ice
This is my first bonified finished map. Hope you dig it. I used one of the tutorial docs from the Cartographer's Guild and Photoshop CS4. Not much thought went into this one. I was really just trying to make a finished, polished, decent-looking map.

I wish my first map was half as good as this.
Finished Maps
Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.
