    Map Kolbyana

Yep, another map for my atlas project.

This one is the empire of Kolbyana, which is to the north of the Kurnefala map I posted a while back. It also fills in a big hole in my coverage; I've updated my KML to add this map.

I think there are some really interesting places on this map; for example, the Great Unurvi Canyon which forms the southern boundary of Aysanul, a heavily-populated plateau in a very defensible position; and the great city of Punjoori, which sits in a canyon and guards the main pass into Andira.

Right-click, save as "Sorol.kml". I don't know why some browsers download KML files as xml, it's a pain.

I really am liking the work on Sorol. I'm not sure that HR can make a bad-looking map. I particularly like the noisy, "fractal breakup," effect between landcover regions. I guess RobA's, "Not So Random Coastlines," method would be applicable, but labor-intensive.

However it's done, it looks great. Good on you.

I can actually explain that effect. All of the landcover shapes are on one layer in photoshop, and then the "Spatter" filter is applied (it's listed under "Brush Strokes"). Very quick, very easy.
