Fast Town
I was trying out Ascension's "fastest town in the west" tutorial. Here is a cropped image from my result. Not nearly as polished as his, but I think it was a good first effort. Will probably try again later to see if I can improve on the technique.

That looks really nice, drop it into somethign to crop and add a background terrain surrounding the place and you have a great encounter map.

Even if I am correct, I would still advise you to follow your heart. This whole Cartographers Guild thing, it seems to me, is more about passion and skill and learning new techniques than it is about definitions and rules.
