I just love this onereally

Inspired by an book about the Byzantine Empire I made this map, imitating a medieval style and giving it a pseudo roman/greek feeling.
The outline was hand drawn and scanned, parchment, colour and labels added in PS.

I really like what you've done with the water. And as always, love your hand drawn illustrations too!
Yes, the water caught my eye over in the WIP thread too... looks like a really good ink-wash line but with overlap. The "Autokrator" illustration should form part of the Bresian Tapestry I reckon!![]()

I love it - not just the water, but all the hand-tinted effects. The borders are great - I have seen yet less precise line-following on even atlas maps from a hundred or hundred-fifty years ago. I was going to complain that the cities and trees weren't colored outside the lines at all, but looking closely I see you left them a tad irregular too. Like, they were done by one colorist at 9AM on a Monday, while the borders were the 47th copy done by a different colorist on a Friday afternoon :-).
Thank you, guys! I'm glad this map turned out so good.
Good god when do you find time to sleep?
Another fine piece by the way...
